silvercap SG BBQ stingray is my favorite, my place got $4 stingray set meal leh, but I hear eat too much will kena mercury poison, how come?
Darkness_hacker99 SG Depend on where is the Stingray breed. If it's wild one hor, they might be mild traces of mercury. It's Biology on BioMagnification. A process where poison is accumulated and passed from the lower food chain to higher up food chain.
Xiaozzhen SG If stingrays intake mercury, the mercury will slowly poison our blood. I understand big sea fishes and farm raised salmon are at risk.
silvercap SG huh, What's wrong with farm raised salmon ? u know, those salmon selling in the market are mostly farm raised one, if not very expensive de btw, if some one kena mercury, got cure or not?
Xiaozzhen SG Many articles in Straits Times a few years back... Farm raised salmon grow at a very fast rate.. yes? Yes So they are forced fed, so they can be sold quickly in a shorter time for more profits and less costs. They are force fed with lots of fishes that are known to contain lots of mercury. Furthermore the pinkish ting on the salmon flesh comes from red dye added to their food. Compare farm raised salmon with wild salmon. Wild salmons' flesh are a little grey orangey. But I wonder why the Wo Ha died down. Does it mean the farm raised are ok now? I haven't eaten a single salmon after that series of articles. I used to love teriyaki salmon. I am sure you still can find related articles.
Camemberu SG The most dangerous fish to consume are: King Mackarel Shark Swordfish Tilefish Five of the most commonly eaten fish that are low in mercury are shrimp, canned light tuna, salmon, pollock, and catfish. Another commonly eaten fish, albacore ("white") tuna has more mercury than canned light tuna. So, when choosing your two meals of fish and shellfish, you may eat up to 6 ounces (one average meal) of albacore tuna per week. http://www.epa.gov/waterscience/fishadvice/advice.html
Darkness_hacker99 SG Yup. There are cures. This is a website which tells you everything about mecury. http://www.noamalgam.com/
tHoMiE SG ermm okie .. stingray for sure contains lesser mercury the hail tail .. belt fish as commonly know. pi tai yu in chinese. 1st salmon is not force feed. how the hell do u stuff food down a salmon throat. foruce feeding is like foire grais goose liver ... they force feel the goose by stuffing the food right down the throat. Salmon - mostly farm bred. they grow 3 times faster then wild ones. WhY. cuz they are genenically alter bred of the salmon .. to grow faster and lesser illness and stuff. the meat of farm bred salon is not naturally orange color. they add beta - colarone or something .. those thats in carrots to make the salmon meat orange color. thats why i dun eat salmon much
