SINGAPORE : Caltex has fired the first salvo in the latest round of price increase for all grades of petrol and diesel — making it one of the highest prices Singapore is experiencing.

The company increased all grades of petrol by 4 cents per litre at 11am on Monday.

Its Regular 95 petrol is now priced at $2.046 a litre, Regular 98 at $2.12 before discount and Premium 98 petrol is $2.286 per litre.

Its Power Diesel is retailing at $1.563 before discount.

As in previous increases, the other petrol companies are expected to follow suit soon. — CNA/de

esso 5000 is 1.94 with discount according to my receipt.

maybe sg should try to build more "hydrogen station" instead of petrol station.. lidat then ppl will go buy those hydrogen operated cars... i read from a newspaper sayin duno which company(bmw or honda) had jus manufactured a car tat use both liquidfied hydrogen and petrol..

so maybe other car manufacturers should oso reduce the amount of petrol used in a car by manufacturing a car tat uses both liquidfied hydrogen n petrol

petrol companies are making tons of money. petrol price increase because of the drop in u.s. currency as compare to sing. if you normalise them, the petrol price is basically stable in term of value. but the petrol companies taking the advantage to increase the petrol price without taking into consideration of strengthening of sing currency. government is not doing their job to allow this day-light robbery. can someone do something ?

the thing is that it's not a supply and demand problem now..

there's ample supply.. there's also a steady demand..

the reserves for fuel are full..

the prices are due to speculators driving the price up.. and i won't be surprised if the speculators were paid by people like ExxonMobil to purposely drive the prices up...
