Two bus parks to be built to accomodate new
buses
SINGAPORE: Two additional bus parks - one in the
east and the other in Woodlands - will be built to accommodate the
incoming fleet of some 800 new buses to
Singapore.
The government will bear the development and land
costs for the depots, and lease them to transport operators at a
nominal fee.
The tender for the Woodlands bus depot will close in
April 2012. It is expected to be completed before the end of the
year and can accommodate some 200 to 300 buses.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) will call for a tender for the
other depot in the east within the next one to two months.
The LTA said details for the second bus park are still being
finalised.
