It is just 2 buses. It would mostly be AMDEP, but if not, it will be WLDEP. It will be one of the two, and not shared depot.

Most likely from WLDEP/WLBP, same as Service 857/860 as SMRT AMDEP has a parking crunch.

Got one ppl write to ST forum asking authories to have the 850E to run full day plus weekend. I knew the standard template or answer from LTA - will monitor demand closely and will increase the trips.

Same thing as I wrote for the increase trips of 971E.

I can only say LTA planner CMI. They said express service such as 971E is non basic service, which are provided by the operator at their own accord or expenses when I suggested let SBST run the route of 971E. Any operator keen to run can write to PTC. What the F&*) these LTA bus planner are doing?

Here is the quote from LTA bus planner in 2011 when I wrote to them to ask them to have 971E to run full day

We would like to share that Service 971E is a non-basic service which is operated based on commercial considerations. Any operator who is keen to operate such services can apply to the Public Transport Council (PTC), the licensing authority for bus services for a bus service licence. With regard to your suggestion to extend the operating hours for Service 971E to a full day service, we will forward the suggestion to SMRT Buses for its consideration

I can tell for morning peak on the day I observed. I took first bus from TAM Ave 5 and got down at SAFRA, and took next bus at SAFRA to downtown. 513 first bus had 67 pax and 2nd bus had 52 pax on a Tuesday AM, two weeks before CNY.

971E is a service started by SMRT using their own initiative way before BSEP was introduced. Why must SBST run 971E? Bukit Panjang is SMRT's area of responsibility, which makes more sense for SMRT to operate 971E. It's like asking SMRT to operate 513.

well maybe making them full day services would kill some of the normal trunk services...

850E/971E meant for those working in Cbd w/o the hassle to squeeze in mrt or basic bus svc thus the higher fares.Apart from that I agree that the trips should be increase ie 6 trips each for Am/Pm trips.Timing should adjust 0705-0845/1735-1900
