how old is ur dwarf hamster?? do u breed to sell?

the hamsters is 2-3mths old only and no i dun breed to sell, just that they keep giving birth due to the fact that i dun like to separate the males and females but then my mom is complaining now so have to let the hamsters off.... Crying or Very sad

i have local and sapphire hamster before but i've never had a russian campbell dwarf before, according to ur experience, do they bite? are they to they lazy side or energetic side? friendly or not?

They're cute but they have very varied personalities Razz I had 2 but one passed on recently Sad

The one that passed on was very naughty and eats a lot... it runs around (although it hates the wheel) and eats a LOT Razz and it's not just keeping and hiding things, he ate a lot! And therefore was obese... it's playful and likes to "fight" with things like straws and coffee-stirrers.

The other is more quiet and hides itself a lot although some treats will lure it out. It mostly sleeps and gathers the shavings to make its little house more comfy. Doesn't do much.

They're cute.. but you will have to train them slowly to get used to human handling. Be prepared to shed some blood as they will bite when frightened.

they sure bite if u mishandling them, so far the hamsters i have are since their birth and i have been handling them a lot so they dun really bite me and so far no blood shed from me. Very Happy they sure are friendly to me but not sure about stranger thought, so far those who buy from have not shed any blood too but they did feedback the hamsters to nip a bit sometimes but definitely no blood shed.

They sure are if they are red eyes, cos thats the original campbell main feature, for mine, they are actually mixed breeds of "Black Bear"; "Albino"; "Algenta" and not to forget the original campbell so, its a mixed breed. Smile

Currently, i m trying to breed my Albino with my Winter White Pearl hope there is some good result. Wink

oh i see, then prepare to foke out $25-$35 for the robovoski at the pet shops then....and good luck to u too.

by the way, robovoski is damn fast and very hard to handle even just for holding them. i suggest u get winter white which is more friendly and easiest to handle among the 3 types.

Not too sure which breeds cannot be mated because half of the offspring will be born without eyes and will die after a few days...

So, do have a care when breeding hamsters Smile

They are so cute when they are very young and small Smile

all breeds can be interbreed for dwarf but some are not recommend not say cannot mate.

all offspring are born with their eyes not fully develop yet but the mother hamster will take good care of them until their eyes are open and can run around looking for food on their own.

The Ruby Eyed Mottled Dwarf Campbells Russian can produce deformed offspring when mated with another Ruby Eyed Mottled. The offspring are born with a cleft pallete, no teeth and often have no eyes. Due to the lack of teeth the offspring do not usually survive weaning.

so I guess should not breed some with genetic defect.. else the babies so poor thing Sad
