Wanda SG Do they take the tree home? If the durian drops from their tree onto the floor, then who does the dropped durian belong to? Ask the Indonesian leh.
ShrodingersCat SG I like almost all fruits. Except Salak, Sour Plums, and.. uhh... guava. Here's some other interesting fruits.... Passion Fruit... very creamy if you can get over the many seeds but I like. Available at Little India Tekka Market. I tasted this in Sri Lanka.. and I can only tell you it tastes as weird as it looks. It's called the Wood apple... and elephants like the taste of it very much. However as it is eaten fermented.. (it is .. definitely an acquired taste... sour.. strong pungent smell..) ... they get drunk on it and go on drunken trampages. Also known as the Beli Fruit, Bael Fruit, Golden Apple...one of the most interesting fruits I've eaten in my life. Its known for its medicinal properties.. when we cut it open, there is a latex sticky honey threads between the two sides. You eat it, it tastes sweet, but later on, there is a warm fuzzy feeling in your stomach like you have drunk sweet wine. Lovely!
ShrodingersCat SG "...it is nonetheless very unusual, especially the slimy edible part that superficially resembles an eyeball preserved in formalin. The fruits are roughly the size and shape of "jumbo" olives, about one inch (2.5 cm) long, with a thin, leathery outer covering. The outer skin peels easily, exposing a translucent, slimy ball containing a large, shiny black seed. It is this juicy, slimy mass surrounding the seed (referred to by some authors as an aril) that is slightly sweet and edible. The fruits, which hang in grape-like clusters, are yellowish-red to brown at maturity...." If i read this.. I would never guess they referring to longans. http://waynesword.palomar.edu/plnov96.htm
