madster86 SG Mooncake festival is next month.. any1 got any suggestions where to get nice mooncakes? add in the url if possible.. thks
the Bear SG thought this year, october then moon cake? anyway, Mui Lee for traditional teochew mooncakes Block 51, Chin Swee Road, #01-89 (sales) Block 118, Commonwealth Crescent, #01-25 (bakery)
photo_seeker SG Mui Lee always got my supports for the above mentioned. But won't buy Moon Cakes cause it's not popular in my household.
madster86 SG got any links or pics to the above mentioned? cos everytime i try to find on the net i only get referrals and the nt advertisement for the mooncake..
the Bear SG because each year goes by, the mooncakes get even more messed up.. with ice cream, eggs and dunno what other kinds of nonsense inside... and i've tried them.. they seem to get worse and worse.. this one.. remains the same every year.. and is good stuff
browniebaobao SG ic. nv really tried the exotic ones.. i love yam mooncakes, those white crispy skin ones.. normal lian rong with melon seeds.. durian mooncakes.
MooKu SG I think must order. First year I bought (2004) I had to order... maybe cos I was already a bit late. Second year (2005) I didn't have to order cos I bought very early. Bear bear need to order or not? Anyway I think I'll buy again this year too. And I also second FI's recommendation for Tai Chong Kok. Their snowskin mooncakes are superb - egg yolks still have a little oil so not too dry, lotus paste fragrant and not sickeningly sweet like other mooncakes, and the skin is soft and chewy! And you also must buy *note: MUST BUY!* their glutinous cakes. I've never tasted such tasty glutinous cake before. Very soft and delicious! Note, however, that usually it's sold out, after which Tai Chong Kok will put out glutinous cakes by another producer (which is obviously not as good). Must go early for this. And I also love Raffles' Hotel's snowskin champagne brandy whatever truffles mooncakes!
