Commuters have expressed concerns about the affordability of public
transport, said chairman of the Fare Review Mechanism Committee
Richard Magnus.
The committee has held discussions with two groups of commuters
including students, homemakers, working adults, union leaders and
senior citizens.
Mr Magnus, in a blog post on Monday, said that most commuters felt
that public transport fares are generally affordable to the average
Singaporean.
However, they raised concerns that fare increases have an uneven
impact on different groups of Singaporeans, especially on the low
income.
