Two types of Scania WABs will be used at the initial stage
- Scania K270UB 12m ex-RapidKL and Scania K250UB 10m brand new
from production line.
First batch of 5 K270UBs are already in Kuantan in preparation
for the launch. Kuantan residents were given free rides from
shuttle services provided during the weekend. The first K270UB were
delivered to Kuantan a month ago for the press conference of
RapidKuantan by the MB of Pahang.
The Scania K250UBs were part of the 80-units ordered by
RapidPenang. Due to the "hurried" launch of the RapidKuantan,
Prasarana decided to send the K250s to RapidKuantan instead, which
the latter will receive at least 30 units. The buses are being
assembled at Masdef with an updated Gemilang bodywork design. The
first K250 will receive fleet tag/code of S351, continuing from the
earlier batch of K270s for RapidKL. All buses under Prasarana will
subsequently follow the same fleet tag/code for each chassis
model.
