Yeah. And to user 'SBS128B', you want to say something like 6058X is running around, make sure your cameo for that bus is reported first in this forum? I looked through all the posts for the past few weeks, no one mentioned 6058X on cameo at all in Sgf. I asked you to show me the evidence, your reply was not answering my question at all. Where's the services 6058X has done? At least there's more than one guy (other than me) which saw 8333M running around on various services (12, 28, 291). Probably (i say probably) you are right that 6058X is out, but right now, i only see 1 replacement bus and not 2 on BN 109 daily and that is 6116L.

Most BN buses are above the windscreen... not sure about Citaros cause never seen any perm stickers. Anyone knows about HG citaros?

Can i ask, above the windscreen as in where? You mean the CCTV/EDS selector compartment? Cause i thought above the windscreen = EDS unit? Correct me if i'm wrong.

And for HG Citaros, those from the 6065A, 6067U, 6068S batch i spotted, the perm stickers are on the coinbox (the side facing the driver). Very difficult to spot, unless you just happen to be crossing the road/standing facing the offside of the bus. For the 6090B batch that recently went in 83 (iirc) and 6096K, the perm stix is towards the right of the steering wheel on the dashboard itself. Not sure about the rest just yet.

AM 53 Citaros some have perm stickers also on the coinbox (6012C, 6035L, 6038D for eg. iirc), some like 6015U & 6016S have the perm stix elsewhere (think on the dashboard too) or probably none at all (couldn't find). Not sure abt 6077R & 6081C and the rest of the AMDEP Citaros though.

But don't try to be so obvious and stick your head here and there to find the perm sticker yeah. I don't want to be labelled by others as teaching others new ways to disturb the BC from driving properly.

in what ways are the Hispano bodywork crap? Yes some of 965 O405s were previously JB-regged and they look unappealing cos of the fading paint and stuff... So? They are solid, strong and durable. Look at TIB582U. 2 (or 3) major accidents already, and today its operating like a dream. They hardly give ride comfort that Osim would be proud of. Ur better off cherishing them rather than being disgusted of them. I know of people being disgusted at Citaros even, but none of them thumbs-downed the sturdy O405.

I know where it appears on the BNDEP KUBs, below the bus stopping sign usually. But the bus stopping sign for Citaros is not visible from the driver position? I mean, it is actually further back than the rego plate area and not clustured together with the interior rego plate (you should get what i mean). So the perm sticker is still there uh for those BNDEP Citaros with stix?

Anyway, not sure if anyone has raised this before, but I think unlike the Mk4s and K230UBs, the Citaros do not have a sign that lights up on the dashboard when someone presses the door stopping bell? It caused quite a number of BCs to miss their stops during peak hours because they had forgotten about the people intending to alight (made worse by the fact they can't see the bus stopping sign at all from their driving position in the Citaro)

The Volvos (iirc it should be Mk4s and even VOs too since they share the same dashboard?) have a box in the dashboard that lights up in orange with the 'S' sign when someone presses the door stopping bell. A similar kind is present on the dashboard for KUBs. But i don't think the Citaros have it. Correct me if i'm wrong!

And another issue that not sure anyone noticed, the present Citaros we have now do not have a tachometer at all on the dashboard. Only the speedometer. It might not seem like a serious problem, but i've seen BCs flooring the Citaros all the way and pray that it will change up one gear, resulting in sometimes abrupt and jerky gear changes (although not as bad as some Mk4 Striders where you can literally hear the gears clonk and change).

If you had taken a bus driven by a skillful KUB BC, they would actually let go slightly of the accelerator if the bus refuses to shift up a gear and use the tachometer to gauge when the bus will shift up instead. Same for the case when a KUB tries to struggle uphill (I've seen a Service 5 BC purposely keep his KUB in 5th gear instead of 6th along the PIE sector with many uphills by gauging the rpms)

So i do hope the facelifted Citaros (the Batch 2s) do come as the start of their production coincides nicely with the delivery of the remaining Citaros. And the facelifted Citaros do have a tachometer onboard, see the Mercedes Germany website if you want to find out.

The MK4's nauseating grinding of gears and clutch is due to the age of the gearbox I believe...because it wasn't like these till the mid 2000s. The same problem can be found on SMRT ZFs....and some of the 0405Gs seem to have lost their 1st gears and just start from 2nd. No big issue there though except the start-up is a little slower.

For the K230UBs, rpm seldom goes beyond 1.5k on the EEVs with typical shifts at 1.2k. Actually if the traffic ahead is clear and the BC knows better, 6th gear on the K230UB is enough to climb the slopes along PIE. And if the BC knows the bus he drives very well and bothers about the gears, the K230UB is really nice and sweet on the gears if the any changes in the pressure on the pedal is done gently. The gearbox will simply hold the gear nicely although some BCs overdo this causing the bus to vibrate. The most extreme case I had was when an SC K230UB slowed down uphill gently while still applying pressure on the pedal. Clutch was still engaged when the driver suddenly stomped on the brakes causing the engine to nearly stall.

At the other extreme, I once came across a 74 BC who was determined to keep his Strider in gear 2. Pax were all tempted to smack him at the back of the head.

I've seen another Service 53 BC who just decided to floor his K230 no matter what up the uphill of the short flyover linking from the airport on TPE via the PIE to Pasir Ris. I assume his previous bus one trip earlier was probably a Citaro (because Citaros pretty much have the power to carry the bus uphill without much hassle when floored), but when this BC did the same for this poor KUB, the KUB could only lumbered uphill like a snail in 6th gear. Then shift down to 5th, 4th and then at the top of the small hill, 3rd.

And because the Citaros did not have a tachometer, could it be possible that when you hear a Citaro being floored, the revs were very near to the redline? Much nearer to the redline than the KUB i suppose?

actually have, you need to take closer look to the LCD. After stopping bell is pressed, there will be a triangle icon blinking.

Tacho is not useful for many LOs and many older VOs.

If you believe the tacho, then the idle rpm is -100 and the engine can suddenly produce 3k revs in milliseconds.

HAHAH! When they go towards the redline, more often than not, black smoke comes out anyway. But still good to sleep in!

I do notice the Citaros are more likely to produce soot. Most probably because of the higher revs compared to the K230UBs. At the other extreme, the K230UBs tend to produce plenty of groanings and vibrations because the revs are a bit too low.

As for performance, both types are pretty comparable actually. A whacked K230UB goes very fast actually and if I roll both types down the PIE slope of course the K230UB goes faster.
