By 2015, 1100 KUBs 1000 Wrights 750 Citaros Good news or Bad news ? 1100 KUBs shld hv like 350 E200, and 1000 Wrights shld hv 400 MAN Lion City DD

It's great to hear that SBST is buying more of such good buses to improve their bus services, especially like the Volvo B9TL Wrightbus and Mercedes Benz O530 Citaros. Hope the Citaros will be the new geration ones.

Looking forward in taking them.

Not really..

SBST is likely to expand fleet size by 360 buses this time round.. 260 from BSEP funds, 100 self funded..

So that leaves 640 buses that's meant for replacement..

Say the 300 B9TL was to replace 100 VO2x, 200 LO3x, and 50 VO3x, w/ 50 being fleet expansion... So this meant this 640 purchase is meant to replace 150 VO3x Batch 1, 200 Batch 2 (350 ADD), 115 B10M MKIV, 25 asstd loose fleet (SC MKIV, Darts, Superlong, etc... (140 SDs)...

So it's likely 150 Striders would go as well...

They would not anyhow scrap the bus if it has no problems or have not reached it's deregistration date. It is really a waste of money.

Most likely the non WAB buses they will retain after this batch of new buses will be,

- Volvo B10TLs

- Volvo B10BLE CNGs

- Volvo Olympian batch 3

- Dennis Tridents

- Volvo B10M MK4 DM3500 and Striders

And my guess is that after the B10TLs, the B10BLE CNGs might be the next batch to get EDS.

If SBST or SMRT imports any 2-axle 3-doors buses that will be interesting.

3-door designs are fantastic in Europe because the bus companies and commuters work on a basis of trust to pay their fares when boarding/alighting from any of the 3 doors. 3 doors in Singapore will make it difficult for the PTOs to guarantee fare collection as people can get on at the rear without being noticed and make it even easier for fare evaders to act. It’s quite sad that our society has not yet reached such a level of sophistication.
