Finally this problem has been highlighted. I hope SMRT will
seriously consider switching to double deckers to vastly improve
their bus services in future.
bendies still have their merits despite all those negative
criticisms on them
bendies thrive on short feeder routes and have demonstrated
success in CCK, WDLS and YIS feeder 300, 302, 307, 800, 804, 806,
811, 812, 900, 901, 902, 903, 911, 912, 913
They are also effective on industrial services like 856, 962,
964 in the areas under SMRT purview
likely worst case scenario is that they may be banned from CBD
or other estates under SBS purview and confined only to Choa Chu
Kang, Yishun and Woodlands, Sembawang
CBD or non CBD roads, they are equally as busy and
restricted.
Just look at the jams caused by bendy buses along the bus lane
outside Yishun Northpoint, Yishun interchange, Woodlands
interchange and Chua Chu Kang interchange. Ironically, those bus
interchanges like Sembawang, Bukit Panjang and Bukit Batok with no
or a few bendies do not have so much of such jams and queues
problems.
And it is not cost and operational wise to operate so many kinds
of buses for SMRT.
So just stop using bendies. Had enough of them.
So DD can do bus bridging???
If can then why SBS never put a single DD on any MRT
breakdown???
What if got place DD cannot pass become SD and people die???
Citaro G is better because Citaro G can use for bus bridging DD
cannot!!!
It is not DDs can't do it, but mis communication that did not
proceed well with the bridging services.
Retard.
Not all things can run perfectly, even if use DDs..
Ya, I agree not all things are perfect and so it's better to choose
the better of the worse. In this case, double deckers are still
better.
It's more to planning lar,SMRT bus only 3 depots the most 850
buses SBST 7 depots with 3000 buses and with SMRT greed under SPH
last time where do the spare buses go last time?Ikea and RWS
shuttle la,At least 20 buses are use for these shuttles as its
permanent basis.IMHO bus plus also must be activate during the
crisis beside sub con buses..They can't forever depend on SBST for
bus bridging sia.Another lesson for them for not build a new bigger
depot.Kim Chuan there can built an open space enough for 200 buses
anytime.AM?They must be joking its mere bigger than SJE depot
leh..Really goondoo of SMRT.
Communication problems most come from PRC drivers leh.Even
normal Singaporean Malays or Indians can speak basic English that
can be understood
If SMRT depots has only 12m buses only, they can hold up to 1000
buses to improve their bus services. Bendies just take too much
spaces to hold up the spaces to park more buses.
But....those people still alive what..
So have to wait till someone dies then rectify the problem is
it???
i know a lot of car users have been finding bendies an eyesore
and cursing bendies
but they overlook the fact that being a lone driver in the car,
the car driver is actually hogging more road space than the
bendies
Not just other car users, but other BCs driving buses find them
a nuisance as well. And they road hog too much, imagine a emergency
vehicle is in the hurry, how long has it have to wait for the bendy
bus to cut lane before it can move forward??? If ambulance, I think
the casualty will have to wait long (or can wait) before
reaching the hospital.
To those who want bendies like mad:
- Please think. Our roads, infrastructures, density living
cannot support such long buses in the long run. Yes, each kind of
buses, SDs, DDs and bendies will have their short comings. But we
must understand that our land and infrastructures are limited and
the population is still growing. We have to choose the better
options to solve the problem, not choosing something that gives
much more problems.
