I see no reason why a full rigid fleet is better than a rigid
fleet with bendies. Bendies really can really solve many problems
and some people just don't see it. This is not a debate but if I
have to respond,I will. The person who created this topic and the
person responding is my friend,we share the same account and he has
said nothing offending since you all are so called "not bendy
haters". So,why did this argument start in the first place?
You like it or not, SMRT has decided that they will not get bendy
buses in future. They will convert their fleet to full single
decker buses to boost frequencies and improve their operational
efficiency of their bus services. SMRT indeed themselves have
recognised that bendy buses are in fact giving them a lot of
problems like scheduling of service frequncies, parking spaces in
depots, taking up spaces along bus stops and bus lanes and
complexity of operating and maintaining such buses.
Thus their decision to stop buying bendy buses is more or less
fixed. They want to convert to full single decker fleet and they
want their spaces in bus depots to be fully parked with more buses
instead. Manpower wise, they are sourcing more BCs from countries
like China.
Wrong, they got a lot of bendies partly because of the
expressway!
190 was better served under SBS with many double deckers. Then too
bad it was transfered to SMRT and I see lesser bendy buses which
are not friendly to busy roads in the city. Overcrowding happens
and more and more complains came in about not able to board the
buses for 190.
But anyway DTL will be up in 2017. By then 190 will only need
full single deckers to sufficiently cater the lower demand.
I got to agree with you on this. Sometimes my one and only pet
peeve about DDs is they tend to move too slowly for my liking. Some
BCs of KuBs also drive like that and I really dunno why. It is
infuriating when a BC is driving below 60km/h on an expressway.
Speed control is important, but efficiency is a factor not to be
missed as well. I like the pace of bendies driven on expressways.
This is, IMO, one of the reason why I prefer taking bendies
It is not about fast or slow. It is more of the scheduling and
timing of the buses. If bus is too ahead of its timing, it will be
slow. If bus is late, they will speed.
I have taken 168 double deckers along TPE at 65km/h before and
there are times double deckers along Orchard Road overtake the
bendy bus. And sometimes it is even more frustrsting that a bendy
bus being stuck in a junction and bus stop.
The most possible top choice for SMRT's future bendies is Citaro
G (assuming there will be importing of WAB bendies)
Or do you think SMRT will import other type of bendies? Post
here if you have different thoughts.
One more thing, this thread is a bendy bus fan club, if you want
to post bad things of bendies then this is the wrong place, at
least post in other threads but not here!
LTA rejected the Citaro G model into Singapore.
Everyone here is for a discussion. Don't prevent people from
posting just because you don't like to listen what is actually
happening.
