months, business trip to San Francisco
SINGAPORE: Minister for Transport and Second Minister
for Foreign Affairs Mr Lui Tuck Yew, will be leading the Singapore
delegation to two meetings on transport and energy by the
Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) in San Francisco.
The Joint APEC Transportation and Energy Ministerial Conference and
the 7th APEC Transportation Ministerial Meeting take place from
September 12 to 14.
The APEC Transportation and Energy Ministerial Conference will
provide a forum for APEC transport and energy ministers to consider
initiatives to steer the APEC region towards more energy-efficient,
sustainable, and low-carbon transport systems.
At the 7th APEC Transportation Ministerial Meeting, the APEC
transport ministers will discuss ways to chart policies to foster
closer co-operation and enhance development in the transport
sector.
The meetings will also explore measures to incorporate the concept
of sustainable development in transport systems.
Mr Lui will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of
Transport, the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore, the Land
Transport Authority, and the Energy Market Authority.
He will also be meeting his counterparts from the US and other APEC
economies at these two meetings
