If you talk about which one lasted longer, I have little doubt
the MKIII wins hands down.
Its not that I dislike the CRBs, but its mainteinance left much
to desire especially close to retirement.
And its depreciation record is the most dismal amongst its
contemporaries like the 0405 and the B10Ms, with the most number
(for the fleet size) being written off due to a variety of reasons
such as fire, accidents, etc.
Refer to SMRT's L113s for further details.
As for the argument over which bus is better, get over
it......
Why not just appreciate the buses for what they are and what
they can/could? I don't dispute the fact that the MKIII looked
dated even for its time, wasn't terribly fast, but you can't deny
that the MKIIIs offers better stability at all speeds, has a stiff
suspension optimised for the highway, and was built to last.
In particular, its engine is known world-wide for its ruggedness.
I've also never seen any B10M lock its steering axle under heavy
braking unlike many types (the worst being the K230UB) because of
the better distribution of weight.
