Some KUBs are very noisy too which can be ear piercing, but that is probably due to age. That's why I say SBST needs to overhaul some of these CDGE B9TLs.

So the Scania K230UBs will be quieter in a few years time. Am I right?

I still remember when the VSO came, I wanted to throw something out of my window at the bus.

When I got used to it......came the B9TL.

I dont deny some of the KUBs are irritating.

But the B9TL is different.

It has the ability to blow your eardrums out and can be heard as far away as from an ambulance with siren!

I dont exaggerate.

Though I find it ironic that the noisiest B9TL has a quiet interior compared to what it generates for the outside world.

Depends where u select your seat..the upper deck front seats are the quietest

Same case for SD mercedes buses, be it hispano or the scrapped 0405, front portion is the quiestest

Volvo Mk 3 and 4 are opposite, the front portion is noisier than the hind portion

Quieter, won't be. At most as quiet as when it was new, provided with the right maintance. The only pro I can point out for Scania buses is that they are quieter than other brands. Just look at the 19 year old N113CRBs. But the vibration is bad, especially the OACs. CACs still ok. Thus I can't imagine the KUBs 17 years down the road. Especially it has a less powerful engine and not so up to standard Gemilang bus body as compared to N113CRBs' Walter Alexander PS bodies. Don't sound very good but true story.

Besides being subjected to intense vibration which is on par with SMRT's Hinos and L113s or worse.......and being a little hotter at times....the rear of the B9TL is still an ok place to be in

B10Ms are mid engined buses but more towards the front, that's way. If you have taken the front engined old SBS buses in the 1980s, it will be the loudest when you sat the front seats, especially the Leyland Victories and Albion Vikings. They canbeat the hell out of your eardrums. Hahaha...

During then i was still a kid

All i can remember is the stupid loud prolonged (2-3 seconds) farting sound made by the doors when they opened/closed..

those old days, the doors are controlled by a rotating lever (sort of resembling a T-tap)

Not forgetting the bus stopping beeps, it sounded as loud as a horn

and the buses were then manual geared

then came the auto-gear Merc Hawke and B57, doors were controlled by on/off round toggle knobs (pulled up to open doors, pushed down to close doors if i'm not wrong)

TIBS nissan diesel was surprising quiet at the front..even quieter than Volvo Mk 3

Mainly i always take SBST buses and sometimes DD buses maybe a trouble for drivers especially if there is students playing around.. and 1 thing to you all is don't complain..Got bus then take don't complain too much when other developing countries doesn't have this. No problem for all the buses to me.. To me, it is only buses not a object or product to evaluate or compare and vibration only what nothing wrong de..

We cannot compare ourselves to developing countries.

We are a developed country with supposedly first world infrastructures

With the first world salary paid to our transport ministers and CEOs, naturally our expectations on these infrastructures and facilities has to be first class

We are a very time-sensitive country, time is money

We expect tip-top performance by these facilities, nothing less

Any minor glitches and imperfection or even a 10 minutes train/bus delay is strictly not acceptable and intolerable in Singapore

They cannot blame us for the stringent expectations and demands placed on the transport infrastructures

They have only themselves to blame for carving out Singapore to be a first world nation with first world infrastructure and first world leadership

Pls don't compare the buses/trains in sg with that of developing countries

If bendies are that hazardous, They should be out of our streets by now.

To us as road-users if they are deemed hazardous, So does LTA.

They wouldn't put themselves into a spot where a bus is prematured retired.. It's all because of cost...

Things here is, if it's not good, it'll never be replaced.

Does anyone think the concept of concurrent boarding / alighting at all three doors of the bendies will work out?

Will it succeed in shortening the dwell time of bendy buses at the bus stops? especially bus interchanges like woodlands and yishun in particular

In doing that you can maximise the use of 3 passages of entry and quicken the process of passenger loading

Of course you will need to recruit more bus attendances stationed at every door to ensure every boarding passengers tap their card

Just like how Sv160/170 are currently practising at the Woodlands custom to alleviate the incidents of bus bunching

This will almost be like the BRT or train

Woodlands CIQ is not intended to be a bus stop in the first place.

It's meant for reboarding purposes only.

But since there's no more walking into JB, those who took 856, 911 & 913 from Woodlands have no choice but to take bus across.

so 800 more buses for SBS and SMRT must be Citaro and Citaro G!! The best or nothing!!!!!

It's meant for reboarding purposes only.

it's a busy and hectic boarding berth especially during weekends, just like those in woodlands regional interchange during peak hours

Notice the sense of urgency and how hastily the bus attendances get in marshalling passengers to board 160 and 170 quickly from both entrance and exit doors so that the buses can depart the moment it's fully loaded..

Any delays and the bus queue can easily build up and tailback, 170X arrives at every 1-2 min interval during weekends

Maybe SMRTB can adopt this tactic also at Woodlands Regional Int during peak hours on bendy buses? The long queue formed up by republic poly students boarding 169 and 902....it can take up to 5 minutes to fully load up one bendy

Frankly speaking, bendies work best on short trips like 170X

Of course ma.. The 160 & 170 still got local leg to serve leh..

At least it's way better than say last year alrdy, buses at least all have some movement.

170X depends la, but avg freq is 5 - 7 mins.
