None of the MKIIIs were written off early...considering that
there were 300 of them, its quite a feat...and in a sense, very
good investment for SBS back then. Despite all the langa and all,
they were always returned to service after repairs. And the
MKIIIs didn't break-down as often. Testimony to the
reliability and ruggedness of the MKIII...especially if you
consider its also the same type that goes with the least rest
amongst the JB-registered ones.
Maybe slow and steady beats the lot.
Oh the cloth material stank after a while, but I liked the black
eyeball AC ducts...and the blue seats. And memories of somethings
like that, that felt like it was only yesterday, are nice to
hold.
There used to be a bunch of MKIIIs in AMDEP/BRAM as well....so
in a sense, if someone told me a MKIII appeared on 72 or 88, I
wouldn't consider it interesting at all.
