Good move from LTA. It's not necessary to get in more players.
More players doesn't mean service standards would improve and fares
wouldn't increase. If an operator is not big enough, it may not be
able to cross cover up unprofitable routes hence giving more
problems instead. As our train network keeps expanding, its
even more unnecessary for new entrants to come in.
Also, larger operators enjoy greater economies of scale in their
business operations, which may help prevent sharper fare
increases.
