In the days when 4-5 74s could turn up at AMK (the good old days
of 2 min frequency), pax had to tolerate the NAC DDs.
74 was the last cross-country trunk to be converted to FAC along
with 93.
And then when the fleet became FAC, MKIIIs replaced the NAC
DDs....and 74 also has a so-so frequency these days.
74 is also one of those services where the BCs like to drive
slowly. Increasing journey time.
Yet few make noise about 74.
