The buses used:
70 - Mainly OF1413/1417s (before amendments)

During the days of TIBS, it used the NAC Nissans, Hinos, OAC Nissans, NAC/OAC Merc O405s, Scania Striders/ ELBOs and Dennis Lance. When it was handed back to SBS, it used the Mercs as well as Mk2/3
163 - Mainly OF 1413/1417s, Leyland Lynx (SBS3572Y), Scania N113CRB, and OAC/NAC Mercs (WA/DM). During the days of TIBS, it used the typical buses like Merc O405s, Scania Striders & Dennis Lance (but OAC Nissans do appear on 163 though). When 163 handed back to SBS, it used Mk2s/3/4, Scania N113CRB, and Merc O405s
214E/W - Uses B57s then later NAC Merc O405s. Handed to TIBS and used NAC Nissans, Mercs & ELBO. Renumbered as 820 and 821 and handed back to SBS. The sole perm for 820 was SBS3624G and 821 was SBS3600A. NAC Mk2s were also deployed on 820/821. Renumbered again as 378 and 379 using the same Scania N113CRB buses. SBS1753E and SBS1891P did serve 378/379.

All along Jalan Kayu Services were based at AMDEP, even during TIBS days.

59 - Jalan Kayu - Bishan. Extended to Ang Mo Kio. Renumbered 866 and extended to Sengkang in 1999.

70 - Jalan Kayu - Prince Edward. Amended to Shenton Way in 1987. Amended to Yio Chu Kang in 1992 to replace service 73.

103 - Jalan Kayu - Commonwealth. Amended to Buona Vista. Amended to New Bridge Road. Amended to skip Yio Chu Kang Link in 2001. Merged with 378 & 379 and the route was shortened to loop at Picadily from Serangoon interchange along its route to Jalan Kayu.

163 - Jalan Kayu - Prince Edward. Amended to World Trade Centre. Amended to Marina Centre and merged with 137 to terminate at Toa Payoh. Extended to Sengkang in 2002.

214E - Jalan Kayu - Seletar East Camp.

214W - Jalan Kayu - Seletar West Camp.

All the services that served the terminal in 1995 are handed over to TIBS. However, in 1999, these services are handed back to SBS. The following renumberings are made:

214E - 820 - 378.

214W - 821 - 379

The two feeder services were merged with 103 and the terminal was closed on 7 Dec 2003.

By the way, SBS & TIBS asked me, why were there no 214 when there are only 214E & 214W. I also don't know the answer, so can anyone tell me the answer?

Was Service 142 being reintroduced to amend the loss of 147 Potong Pasir Routes after Potong Pasir Iterminal was destructed?

1. Service 237 was withdrawn in 2002 after merger with 232 to loop at Lor 7.

2. No. Service 142 existed in 1984 before the terminal was demolished. It was enchanced to serve P.P. Ave 2 & 3 in 1985 when the roads are ready. It was then amended from Toa Payoh to loop at the estate in 1993 or something.

Service 147 was extended to Upp Serangoon in 1993, with the merger of old service 83. Amended to Hougang Ctrl in 1994.

SBS & TIBS SG

Typically, Service 30 used to serve Chai Chee to Jurong for a very short while. Majority of its Bedok Town Bus Services terminate at Chai Chee Terminal. When Bedok Interchange opened in 1979, Service 30 was amended to operate at Bedok Interchange instead, together with some other services like Service 32. In addition, CSS 8 that terminates at Bedok South Rd was amended to Bedok Int.

Chai Chee terminal closed down somewhere in mid-1984 due to the HDB developments (the terminal used to locate at the part of the land parcel located along New Upper Changi Rd / Chai Chee Road (where Blks 25 to 32 now stands).

ABOUT ANG MO KIO BUS SERVICES (latest updates)

At first, when Ang Mo Kio New Town is still currently under development in the 1970s, there were 2 terminals situated - one at Ang Mo Kio Ave 3 (os Blk 324) and the other at Ang Mo Kio Ave 6 (opp Blk 202). In fact, there was a feeder 260 that serve from AMK Ave 6 to St 22/24. Initially, there was only one terminal, Ang Mo Kio Ave 3 (os Blk 324) and because as there are more services terminating at Ang Mo Kio New Town, another termporary terminal was constructed at Ang Mo Kio Ave 6 (opp Blk 202).

In fact, the Ang Mo Kio Ave 3 terminus was known as the "Ang Mo Kio Interchange" for most residents living in Ang Mo Kio. Services 133, 136, 162, 260, 261 & 262 (services that ply from the Ave 6 terminus) were amended to the Ang Mo Kio Bus Interchange in January 1980. But unforunately, the interchange is too small and SBS had decided to expand its interchange in late 1981 to cater more services in the coming years.

Ang Mo Kio Depot started off with Service 263 in the 1980s as AMK Depot - AMK Ind Pk II (Loop Svc) but it was renumbered as Townlink 268 in 1998 with a slight amendment on its service.

Service 45 was introduced on 26 Dec 2006 as Ang Mo Kio Depot to Upp East Coast Ter.

On 7 July 2008, a third AMK Depot service 128 plys one directional service. It plys from AMK Depot to Shenton Way in the morning peak and vice versa in the evening peak.

202 is 202. 207 is 207. Get your facts clear.

118 was a new service. 118 and 168 co-existed at one point in time so it was unlikely that 118 was formed as a result of the amendment to 168. This in addition to the different routes and 'loop point' of the two.

168's aircon service was withdrawn earlier and its fleet transferred to 118, which may have given rise to the confusion. 118, although the 3rd aircon service by SBS, was essentially the first full aircon service from new. 168 can be considered as 'partial aircon' while sv. 3, although 'full aircon', was converted from an existing route.

Service 168 was actually withdrawn in 1989 due to the MRT, and was replaced by Service 134.

Service 118 was withdrawn in 1990 actually, due to the duplication with 111 at that time. (Because it was extended to Hougang Ctrl in 1994.)

1946R went to arbp 14, 754J 1911R 1947M 1948K went to arbp 65

Sv 67 was never HGDEP before. Only BBDEP & BNDEP used to control sv 67.

The list on the previous page were the buses that were once used to be part of sv 67 perm fleet, which changed from time to time during the SBS era. The Mercs on 67 were from BBDEP.

Sv 3 was made FAC when it was extended to Punggol. The NAC CRBs then went to do other BNDEP feeders and townlinks as SP buses, inclusive of certain PAC svcs such as 6, 32, 35, 37, 38, 401, 403.

In 1973, after Singapore Traction Company closed down its operations, Associated Bus Services, Amalgamated Bus Company & United Bus Company merged to form Singapore Bus Service.

To be exact, it was on 1st November 1973, that these 3 bus companies were merged to form SBS. However, STC was still around although it has its public bus license was revoked at the end of 1971, after which, its shareholders remained and sometimes Annual General Meetings were held. Its full liquidation of the company was heard in early 1979 and there were plans to wind up its business in 1978, due to the general slowdown in 1973 and quiet market stock operations back then.

Service 68 was intro in 2003, at tat time before 39 was intro, it uses tat berth, until when 39 was intro, it swopped berth, making service 68 to have a additional berth at the 10 293 (st 72) 969 berth there. i remember it used to have 1 perm Scania N113 NAC.. not sure if Mk3, strider or DM3500 ever did tat service. also i heard it use Dart?? finally in 2008 it was withdrawn and wat was the last bus which was perm on 68?

For Sv 68, SBS700P (Mk 3) and SBS74M (CRB) were used to be perm. The last bus to be perm was SBS74M. The Dart on 68 was SBS8015G in 2007.

HISTORY OF BT PANJANG SERVICE

At the end of 1985, the first service to terminate at Bt Panjang New Town (formerly known as Zhenghua New town) was service 5, which had its route extended from Bt Timah to the Gangsa Rd Terminal for a short period of time before extending to Petir Rd, which is a roadside terminal. This terminal was named as Bt Panjang Terminal.

There are two side of Petir Rd for boarding & alighting activities. When a bus terminares its trip at Bt Panjang, it would park at the side of Petir Rd stretch , between the junction of Gangas Rd and Pending Rd junctions. (which means the location is o/s blk 108,118,128), and the small bus stops are used for boarding activities. On the opposite side of Petir Rd (facing blk 139,142,150) are used for alighting activities.

The Petir Rd area became a hive of a busy bus terminal serving residents of Bukit Panjang, when more bus services serving the Bt Panjang Area in the 1990s. But first we go through the changes made in the late 1980s. When there is road constraints along Petir Rd, TIBS had taken a paramount task to plan its new bus interchange, connecting Bt Panjang LRT and the Bt Panjang Plaza in 1999 so that the residents will have an improvised bus interchange for boarding & alighting actvities as well as a bus bay for buses to park.

In 1995, TIBS had also showcased its new Mercedes-Benz O405 buses around the Bukit Panjang area, before it actually takes over the Bukit Panjang services by phases. In fact, these new buses were deployed on Bukit Panjang services, to get the residents a new feel on its new buses and also the EDS system which made them to see the service number clearly.

In 1988, two services were introduced - 187 and 190, on july 10. Service 187 plies from Bt Panjang to Jurong while 190 from Bt Panjang to New Bridge Rd and on the same year, two new feeders were introduced -- 343 and 344.

343 - to Petir Rd (loop at end)
344 - to Bt Panjang Ring Rd

Service 190 was extended to Choa Chu kang Int in 1989, when the Choa Chu Kang Int opened to the public.

920 - Service introduced as Bt Panjang to Bangkit Rd (Loop) on 28 Mar 2000. On 29 May 2005, it was amended to ply Senja Rd and Senja Link
921 - Service renumbered from 343. Bus Plus buses were used in 2006 before withdrawal. Part of its Petir Rd route became part of 700.
922 - Service introduced as Bt Pnajang to Segar Rd (Loop) in 23 Apr 2006.

Feeder 920 - Introduced to replace 344 after passengers complaining no route to Bangkit area in 2000. Amended to serve Senja area in 2005 to replace 345 too.

Feeder 921 - Renumbered from 343. Withdrawn in 2006.

Feeder 922 - Introduced in 2006 to serve Segar area. In 2010, it was amended to serve more of Fajar & Jelapang area and looping at Bangkit Rd, skipping Saujana Rd & Bt Panjang Ring Rd.

Service 970 - Introduced to serve Outram Park & Shenton Way.

Service 975 - Renumbered from 175 in 2005 to serve Lim Chu Kang, skipping Upper Bukit Timah totally.

SMRT do not intend to re-number other services for no purposes unless there is a major amendments or re-routing in its service. Eg. 181 was renumbered to 961 becuase it was amended to Lor 1 Geylang Ter, and 175 was renumbered to 975 becuase of the changes of the routing system.

Actually, for the renumberings of BP & BB feeders, actually is that the numbers that they used after the services had been handed over to TIBS is unfit to represent the numbers that the feeders are using, so they renumbered it (they only renumbered some, until the passengers complaining, but they cannot be renumbered back as TIBS had no authority to ask SBS Transit for taking over the numbers as they falls under the SBS feeder's category.).

Sv 3 was made FAC when it was extended to Punggol. The NAC CRBs then went to do other BNDEP feeders and townlinks as SP buses, inclusive of certain PAC svcs such as 6, 32, 35, 37, 38, 401, 403.

So, 38 also got full FAC fleet but still got NAC cameo last time? The same goes to Tampines and Pasir Ris feeders?
