I still remember service 160 at that time, initially TIB762S and TIB782J were planned to replace the NAC Nissan U31 SCNs which were initially to be deregistered in Jul 1998. After Tibs extended the lifespan of the SCNs from 12 to 15 years, TIB762S and TIB782J were withdrawn from 160 and replaced by TIB334U and TIB335S instead . Again the deployment was reshuffled when WLDEP opened in Oct 1998, service 160 started getting ELBO perms from AMDEP.

So when 160 re-numbered to 980 was it still the same?

Some of the NAC Mercs stayed on the intra-town bus services together with the OAC Mercs (feeders when merge to become intra-town were converted to PAC). I can't remember the rest but I am very sure that the old Japanese NAC buses were withdrawn from the feeders and deregistered around that time.

That NAC Mercs is referring to the O405s. Then a few years later, all of its fleet of 911, 912, 913 were full fleet bendies, when more bendies were still under delivery and roll out at that time.

Its route is the same except that it had extended to Geylang Lor 1 Ter and was made to renumber as 980.

CSS179H too. I once took it full route from Woodlands to Choa Chu Kang in 2008.

seriously it isn't a MRT rationalisation prog fully.

SBS at e same time took e opportunity to rationalise bus routes in non MRT corrdor either w/ changing demand or cos of resettlement like Sv 83's case.

I remember SBS used to operate Sentosa bus routes from HBF, TBR and ORC stations. They used Volvo B10M MkIIIs with rego numbers in the 600s range. Which ones were those and which depot did they come from? They had green liveries as well as TV sets on-board showing what was good about Sentosa.
