Not really. No similarities whatsoever.
The way I see it, Express 868 is actually a smart move by
SMRT to take on the competition posed by Ric Tat's successful
Premium 582 (Bukit Batok West to Shenton Way).
P582 charges $4, E868 charges almost half. P582 winds
around in Bukit Batok East and Jurong East and stops along AYE,
E868 takes on BBT West Ave 6 not served by P582 and tries to take
on a slightly faster route and goes non-stop along AYE.
Chances are E868 might steal almost all of P582's pax
in BBT West heading towards Shenton Way. Pay less for roughly the
same amount of travel time, if not less.
