Waiting for bus at Woodlands Checkpoint? Imagine being
in an oven

STOMPer Traveller was standing at the bus queue
at Woodlands Checkpoint and noticed that there were no fans around
for the comfort of commuters.
He says:
"These pictures were taken near the commuters' waiting area for SBS
Transit service 170 at the Woodlands Checkpoint.
"There is no fan provided near the waiting area and waiting for the
bus can tax your patience to the limit.
"These makeshift metal barriers were tied together with red and
green ropes and they looked very messy and untidy.
"On weekends when there is a big crowd it makes sense to have a
50m long barrier to ensure that passengers queue up properly while
waiting for the bus. However, on week days especially during the
non-peak period, it makes no sense to make passengers walk the 50m
zigzag line to board the bus.
"I saw some young men climbing and jumping over the metal
railings. When there is no crowd there should be a short cut
through the long barrier to ensure faster boarding.
"I asked the bus inspector why passengers had to walk 50m to
board the bus when there was no crowd and he told me that the
barriers were put up by ICA and SBS Transit has no control over
such matters.
"One sultry day I saw a baby crying non-stop and the mother was
trying hard to pacify the wailing baby.
"Ceiling or wall fans should be provided to ease the agony of
commuters."
