Take a train then. It saves you 1km and does not have to stop at every bus stop.

Seriously, train uses tracks and do not travel on the exact same road with exact same bends. And the mile marker is not exactly at both bus stops. If you really want to measure the distance, may i suggest two ways.

1. Take a car and use the distance counter.

2. Walk with a gps unit along the road and use the logging feature to log the distance.

Fare stages are rounded DOWN to the nearest 400meters. Each fare stage approximately is 800m, which means 6.5 fare stage is approximately 5.2km to 5.6km. How is the mile marker accurate compared to this distance may i know?

It is never rounded up, just like how supermarkets charge your $1.04 by rounding down to $1. If the fare was rounded up, we as commuters would have been overcharged for years.

once it's culmulative, it's not alrdy

Sat 66's case along Dunearn Rd. Maybe it'd clocked 11.4km alrdy (14 fare stage), next stop is 550m, it would end up 15 fare stage because of the total dist clocked.

It same goes to buying items at supermarket. Say items at $0.46, $1.12, $1.54, $19.92, total is $23.04. It can't be rounding every item indv done first.

fare stages system... theres good and bad la..
eg. those feeder trunk hybrids 101 112 113 163, also 163 etc.. the first fare band covers the feeder fare.. now DBTF.. no more liao... 160 and 170 can also collect more fares.

DBTF in a nutshell, also benefits the operators.. things like 1m round up to 100m, 40m round up to 200m... charging people longer distance and higher price when theres a shorter way...
next time CCL opens.. HBF to Tai Seng all charge by CCL line like that... cos its direct altho slow and expensive.

ultimately, these schemes never benefit consumers in the long run.
