this is nice. anyway, it's a N310UA6X2 chassis, with Scania DC918 Euro IV engine and ZF6HP602C transmission.

Finally saw an interior of a N series (5th generation) Scania. N series have the engines installed transversely, similar to the DDs (excluding Dennis Tridents). Thats why it can be low floor.

Don't get me wrong, buses with longitudinally installed vertical engines can be low floor too, just like the Tridents, MAN Lion City and Volvo B9Ls. As for the MAN Lion City, theres an option for vertical and horizontal engines(both installed longitudinally). However, those with vertical engines will have less seating space as compared to the horizontal ones because the engine pertrude slightly into the passenger compartment. Just some technical 'tidbits' for you guys.

I think SBST would not purchase bendy buses cause of the maintenance issue. This type of bus is not easy to maintain, like the articulation mechanism also got problem should it went faulty. The pick-up speed is not as good as normal bus cause only the rear pair of wheels are providing the propulsion. Therefore SBST would rather purchase more Double-deckers then the benddies.

Wonju City Bus. From Downtown Wonju to Sinrim-guun. Also a Hyundai Aero City. Doesn't it look like the Nissan UDs in CSS/TIBS fleet? Driver's console.

Similar to UDs...

The Hyundai Aero City was a JV between Hyundai and Nissan Diesel... Thus the Aero City is sort of similar to the UDs... Picture taken at 원주고동학교(Wonju High School)... Wonju, a small city in Kangwon Province, even has something similar to our IRIS Nextbus system, at bus stops...

Wonju Sv. 21 Wonju City Market to Sinrim(신림)

Front of bus... B/C went out for a smoke... Bus was very bouncy... Something like the UDs...

Rear of the bus... Sinrim is in the countryside, 19km out of Wonju City. Thus the mountain scenary. The route goes round the Chiak-san mountain ranges, and goes up 320m above sea level in under 4km and down in 9km. Vice versa for the other way. B/C managed very easily to go at 100kmph when climbing. It is a manual bus, not automatic.

KMB (Hong Kong) k230UB

KMB has ordered 30 units of these things in 2008. the first few have since arrived in hong Kong and doing road tests.

Interior:

the PIW area is on the LHS, doorside. but the air pressure systems seem to really take up lots of space. there is not even a granny seat in bus. the driver door seems big and bulky and the entry door area to aisle seem rather tight and squeezy.

there seems to be a standee area behind the air pressure equipement box behind driver cabin and on the RHS are 2 by 2 seats. In all i think the bus has only 32 seating. Looks like hong kong ppl might complain about this.

the same old many steps to rear feature of a K230Ub remains. the rear seems kind of dark as last window does not seem to exist.

Standard PIW facilties, likely auto-ramp at rear door. With PIW push bell and PIW seatbelt and back rest. What looks cool is they seem to have put the fire extinguisher ina nifty compartment inside the PIW backrest thing. cool.
