salt enhance the taste, so not only green apples, but people also use on rice, watermelon etc

wait a sec, all the while i thought it was tamarind powder which they used on cut guava which sell at pasar malam, someone told me it was tamarind

Tamarind is used in South Indian cuisine, if that is what you are looking for.
