SMRT will put a new fully low floor bus on the roads from next
Wednesday.
The bus, which is also environmentally friendly, does not have
any steps from the front to the back of the bus.
There are only small side steps that passengers at the back of
the bus have to climb to get to their seats.
SMRT said they had received feedback from concerned elderly
passengers about current buses which had steps along the aisle.
Elderly passengers said they found it difficult to negotiate the
steps especially when the bus was moving.
