no public bus was involved in any accident/breakdown. say
first.
but an accident on SLE(TPE) near the upp thomson flyover ard 11am
today caused tailback till Woodlands Ave 12 exit.
at least SIX pairs of
161/168 were seen stuck in the tailback. traffic didn't move at
all. i was driving along the opposite direction counting the number
of 161/168s. 
On new years eve, an accident involving a a van and a car caused a
massive obstruction at the junction between Hougang Ave
9 and Hougang Ave 4....
Buses along ave 4 (88, 161, 159, 156, 109) all bunched up as
they couldn't pass. The van left the scene sometime later, allowing
those going straight (88, 161) to pass leaving the rest stuck as
the car could not be moved.
Those turning into ave 9 remained stuck. One 159 tried to get
around the situation by.....going straight down ave 4, turned to
ave 8, and then entered st 61 (like NR6), and then.....found itself
stuck there by the stricken car, adding to the chaos.
As the other buses saw the 159 emerge from the street, they
almost turned out. Fortunately, the 159 driver ran out across the
street and told them to stay put.
So the endstate, at least when I was there was the lane turning
into ave 9 blocked by buses. And st 61 also blocked by bus! When
actually cars could manage the turns.
Imagine all the curses heaped at the stuck 159 at the one-way
street, st 61.
