I would think that VSO's are better maintained/sturdier than the
Tridents and B9's. Engine roaring yes, that's common, but there are
'silent' B10TL's too.
Axle problems, none that I've heard so far. The B10TL may be
loud and have lousy acceleration, but it feels really sturdy
compared to the fidgety Trident or the bumboat B9's.
The B10TL has been roaring at constant noise levels since day one,
so I've gotten used to it. In fact I was a little sad to see the
161 VSOs taken out. Fortunately there are now VSOs on 88 to let me
hear the familiar roaring.
The Trident? Everything about this bus is run-down, right down
to the lights, interior and exterior.
I initially thought the VSOs on 161/168 would not survive
roaring down TPE every single day, but it has proven me wrong.
Again less 9844Z.
IMO, the best maintained DD relative to age must be the VO2X,
VO3X Batch II and III and the VSOs.
