YEAH ! I agreed ! I had terrible headache after riding it on Sv7 ! Talking about that bus, I don't see it on Sv7 or is my timing off. Hmmmm

I stays at Clementi Ave 5, could hear the roaring of Sv7 B9 far far away ! Seriously, they did to do something to the exhaust and radiator and also maintaining the bus! I could not believe ALOCA rims actually rusting away !

they don't rust. they just get scratched, dirty and tarnished. alcoa recommends placing a spacer between the hub and the inner rear wheel, as well as another spacer between the inner and outer rear wheels.

can see that sbst didnt bother. look at the rim faces of the alcoas on the kubs and b9s. that grey ring around the rim nuts is prolonged scratching between the hub and the rim.

In case you don't realise, aluminium is one of the most reactive metals to air. The only thing that stops it from being corroded completely is the layer of corrosion on the rims itself.

Somehow, the loud sound of the B9TLs when it is moving sounds better than the monotone loud whirring sound when the Scania K230UB bus is at rest.

Nowadays new buses are getting quieter as bus manufacturers are making them to be as quiet as cars. And I believe the underpower and the monotone engine sound and slight vibrations when changing at low gears is due to the tuning and tightening of gearboxes by SBST. The KUBs have the potential of higher speeds if SBST didn't tighten the gears.

If you recall the buses of the 70s and 80s, like the Volvo B57s, Leyland Victorys and Atlanteans, Mercedes Benz OF1413s, Albion Vikings, they have the loudest and most powerful engines. Probably buses in the 70s and 80s are much more interesting than what it is now.

Of late, ZF B9TLs starting to have problems when shifting from 5th-6th gear. the 5th gear hits rather high rpm at 60kph but rather low rpm at 6th. and i notice B9TLs that run along eways, tend to switch 5th-6th-5th-6th alot. nowadays when B9TLs hit around 60kph at 5th gear with rather high rpm and cant change to 6th, they give obnoxious vibrations which is uncomfortable for passengers and bad for the gearbox itself. should reconsidering setting limit to speed at 55 since these horses can pick up real fast. but its gonna get people cursing haha.

would be good if SBST increase the speed limit to 70 but i'm probably dreaming. i'm sure if safe driving is inculcated, 70 is still a safe speed and buses wont need such tight schedules. or retune the gearbox, making it unable to attain 6th. tightening of acceleration to buses is also another tale to longer running time.

It vibrates like as though there is a construction going on. Especially when you're on the upper deck and more of to the back, it makes a drilling sound that you hear on the roads.

yeah.I also hope so although i tink its very unlikly to happen.. :(

My fren told me kmb refurbished one Scania N113 DD which the fleet was abt to be scrapped.Tat DD was also converted to WAB as a trial to see whether those old buses were able to be WAB fit or not.So it sort of became lik a demo as it was the ony major refurbished one.I dunno if tis is true or not..

agreed. actually KUB EEV sometimes can get stuck at the 5th gear because it has no opportunity to change to the 6th gear by the time it reaches 60km/h on the highway.

If there's excessive vibrations, something is wrong.

Anyway, anybody knows the size difference between the 5th and 6th? Seems pretty large to me in comparison to that between the other gears.

Talking abt tis,i wonder wat will happen to the CNGs n VSOs since their lifespans r ending aft 2020 in 2022.Dunno if sbst will bother to make them WAB or replace them wit newer buses :(

If they wan replace them wit newer buses,will the CNGs and VSOs be sold since they havent reach their lifespans yet or be scrapped since they ony have 2 more years to go??

i feel that only a small number of b9's and a large number of kub's vibrate vigorously forever. not all vibrate vigorously forever. its the bush thing thats concerned. some exceptions like 7333 and 8350 are forever vibrating.

I believe more CNGs or even hybrids will enter service, but not so soon. Talking ab CNG, actually we are even lagging than our 3rd world neighbour.

Excuse me, If a bus vibrate moderately, would i be here commenting? The bus vibrates vigourously. So what if i have too much comments? You don't like, shut up lah. No need to to make a fuss what? Anything wrong? Afterall this thread states B9TLs that vibrate badly. 7474 is vibrating badly. Not like i post a scania that is vibrating badly what?
