Hi nice to know u.
Btw u work in SMRT now?And u even got a demonstration from ur
friend on how fast the OCs can speed?Cool man.
All the OCs i have took always speed one especially SMB1H.The last
time i took SMB1H,the BC rammed and revved the pedal like a
sports car be4 the bus sped like the wind continiuosly. They
are very powerful in speed and acceleration and everything. The BCs
will always ram and rev the pedal first be4 they speed the OCs.And
the braking isn't as terrible as the kubs which makes it very
comfortable to ride in an OC rather than on a kub.

No, I do not work for SMRT. I met my ex-colleague who used to
work for SBS, but now working for SMRT. He was part of the crew who
were transferred to SMRT when SBS relinquished the Bukit Batok
services many years ago.
The reason for the better acceleration is due to the lower 1st
and 2 gearings, on top of a more torquey engine.
As a former driver, I will say every bus is good. It is the LTA
which imposes speed limit regulations. Of course the depot has to
comply. But I know some bus drivers have got the depot mechanics to
adjust the speed limiter. We used to call "kuui you" in
hokkien, meaning to disengage the speed limiter.
Most buses can attain 100km/h without problem. Look at the
M'sian overland coaches, many are not well maintained, yet you see
them hitting 100km/h. It is the speed limiter that is the
problem.
