Yo shafiq.Finally u created one topic.

Relax man.I thought that some people said here that it was said in the newspaper that there would be no bus rationalisations for this stage of the circle line if i remember correctly.

Hopefully no bus svcs will be withdrawed when the circle line stages open slowly.But i think that at least 5 or 6 bus svcs would be withdrawed.

more likely amended...lta want to keep bus routes that parallel to mrt now...

Service 70 will most probably end up like services 81, 82 and 103 which got shortened after the NEL opened.

yes. and take out all the mark 4 and doubledeck from there.

Remembered service 82 after shortened got downgraded from ADDs to MB0405s then the CAC/NAC MK2s (now all back to MK4 fleets).

But then service 70 with a full Merc fleet wouldn't last long, by 2011 all the Mercs got to go off. Service 70 might become a full fleet Euro V by then .

i think the demand for cicrcle line will be small. also the line is "not conveinent". it does not even go town. its sort of like one of those feeder MRT lines. hence 3 cars would be enough.

furthermore people would find it tiring to walk the tunnels to change lines from/to circle line so they would rather take the buses.

You mean YCK to Serangoon?

The route between Serangoon to Suntec/Shenton Way duplicates CCL Stages 1 and 2 from Esplanade all the way too Serangoon.

Again, service 70 will also duplicate service 103/103W from Serangoon to Jln Kayu.

Between Serangoon and Suntec, actually there are 2 parts of the route which do not duplicate the CCL: Upp Paya Lebar Rd (between Upp Serangoon Rd and Bartley Rd) and Guillemard Rd.

At this stretch of Upp Paya Lebar Rd, there are alternative services 22, 43 and 58 to Serangoon station. But at Guillemard Rd, it's about a 10 minutes walk to Dakota station, it will cause much inconvenience if the Guillemard Rd sector is deleted.

More and more cabbies now kaopehkaobu cause of the upcoming circle line.In few years time we will see more Taxi companies folded up.My guess only Comfortdelgro,SMRT @ Union gas cab that will survive.

Tampines -> Woodlands? 168 liddat would be faster. Take 168 from the MRT there(at MRT side one, not HDB blocks side) den take the bus to Woodlands It's surely to be faster.

Anyway, talking about 969, forgotteen that that day, saw 969 queue during peak hours the queue got extended to the East Link mall foodcourt entrance there, ppl need wait for 2 to 4 buses then can get onto the bus.

Maybe they referring to absolute speed?? I know some of my frends cant stand buses because they keep stopping at bus stops, traffic lights etc. So they rather take MRT even though its longer. Silly....

i tell you ah, paya lebar to eunos guess take bus or MRT faster.

surprising its bus. take 24, 28 etc. Faster than going into the station tap go up wait take get off go down tap walk.

thing is, say Tampines - Paya Lebar/ Ubi, you remove some buses to make ppl take e CCL.. but they'll need to take e EWL somewhat, so that means unknowingly they're trying to overload e EWL tat's alrdy overloaded?

I think they'll still thinking 1800 per train is 'practically' possible

Regarding the NEL Rationalisation,

I felt that they should leave at least one service for people to go to Orchard from North-east area. E.g. Sv 111, 85 or 106.

Express 502/512 also.

No leh. MRT 68 cents versus bus 69 cents. So bus more ex unless got some super rare VO2 cameo.
