Used to take NAC DDs on 2/7/10/14/28/30/35/51(JE-HG Sth)/70/78/97/98/99/107/132(Bt Merah-HG Sth)/143/147/153/165/187/189/190/196(Clementi-Marine Parade)/197/198/285/333/334/335/361 & some can't remember already.

Does BDK feeder has any NAC DD?

Always took NAC Mk ii on 16(Bt Merah-Marine Parade) to Marine Parade & X-over to East Coast Pk then.

Regarding the Turf Club routes, I vaguely remember that, after the Kranji Racecourse opened, there was some route TC31 operating out of Yishun Interchange; it used the berth where route 171/851 is today if I'm not wrong.

Was it operated by CSS too?

Also, does anyone have a photograph of the SBS Transit Turf Club routes? I have never seen them before, and - truth to be told - I'm doubtful of their existence.

Any 78X service passby Jurong East?

Service 788 was the only TC service in the west.

SBST introduced a total of 5 TC services. The other 4 were 781 (Tampines), 782 (Bedok), 786 (Hougang South) and 787 (Yishun).

The SBST TC services existed only for about 6 months. They were introduced in March 1999 with the opening of Kranji race course, withdrawn together in Sep 1999.

I recalled that service 221 also had NAC DDs. Service 221 later merged with service 229 (former, not the present service 229) to become Townlink 222.

Hmmm... could had spotted route 787 (I was still living in Yishun at that time), yet I remember nothing...

Then again, they existed for only six months. Hrmm.

Service 36 was not introduced as a result of this. Service 36 was actually re-numbered from service 16E, which was a peak-hour service introduced in Jan 1994, plying express between Stamford Rd/Bras Basah Rd and Changi Airport. In Dec 1997, service 16E was re-numbered service 36. The route was amended in Sep 1998 to become the present route (except for the slight amendment to skip Siglap Link).

Thinking forward to the present, I think a new Fast Forward route that recreates the old 16E (Fast Forward 36e?) with an extension to the Orchard area may help soothe the heavy loads that route 36 sees between the city area and Marine Parade.

Do you mean something like this?

36B: Tomlinson Rd - Le Meridien > Marine Parade (skips Dhoby Ghaut - Suntec City)

36C: Dhoby Ghaut - Suntec City > Marine Parade

SBS 233 X SG

I still remember that but I miss the 2 DDs who are ex perm on 291 back in 2005. I still remember chasing the DD like mad just to take 2 stops.

The 2 regos are

SBS 9242 K [Now BNDEP 19]

SBS 9234 J [Now BNDEP 19]

I just hope that 291 can get a DD perm again.

9234J 9242K 9277K 9289B 9305M 9355T were ex-291. 9305M and 9289B first left 291 and went 9. 9242K and 9234J went to 19 when DDs were introduced to 19. 9277K and 9355T went to 31 in exchange with 848Y (ex-31) and 3695B (SP).

The true story about Service 70
Things you might not know
1. It was formed from Paya Lebar Bus Service Route No. 1 (RAF Seletar to Guillemard Rd). The route remains unchanged until 11 Apr 1971, the major re-organisation of bus services.
2. Service 70 was under ABS, under the Eastern Group. Its route became Jln Kayu (RAF Seletar - Lor 5 Geylang)
3. Its route starts from Seletar East & West Camp (inside RAF Seletar) then via Jln Kayu, Yio Chu Kang Rd, Upp Serangoon Rd, Upp Paya Lebar Rd, Sims Ave and terminates at Lor 5 Geylang.
4. Service 70 extended its route from Lor 5 Geylang to Prince Edward Rd in 1977. But in 1978, its route inside RAF Seletar was also cut back to terminate at Jln Kayu Ter. Hence, SBS introduced 2 new set of routes - 214E and 214W. 214E served the Seletar East Camp (Picadilly Rd) & 214W served the Seletar West Camp. It was probably that Service 70 demand along the Seletar West Camp on certain timings were poor and therefore 214W had to serve Seletar West Camp on that particular timings that has adequate demand.
5. When Prince Edward Ter closed in the late 1980s, it was laterally transferred to Shenton Way Ter.
6. It was extended to Yio Chu Kang Ter in 1992, when Service 73 amended.
7. In 2001, Service 70# extended to loop at Suntec City and Service 70 extended its route to Yio Chu Kang Link & Boundary Rd.
8. Service 70 used NAC buses (VO2x & Scania N113) until end 2003, when the service gets a FAC Status.

Read the old route details of Service 70 in the early 1970s and copied from my profile.
