Can I confirm that the air con service 3 plied Bukit Merah during the mid 80s? I remember it was the first air con bus I took and I travelled to Bedok as a kid on it. Can confirm there was such a route? How was the route like? As in what places it passed by? Thanks!

In the CSS Guide of 1981, there is a pix of the CSS178K pix (which is a Hino BF177).. CSS178K to CSS194M were used. When CSS bought newer Nissan Diesel U31RCN they re-use the rego in this range and add in CSS195K to CSS207K, while the CSS Hino BF177 were transferred to TIBS to do 161 for a short peiod of time and re-registered as TIB362M to TIB379R. And again TIBS phased out the Hino BF177 and replaced with newer Nissan buses with the same registration plates minus off TIB378T and TIB379R.

Service 3 was Bedok to New Bridge Rd (Loop) at start.. and later the route was extended to Jurong East in 1987

Bedok North Ave 1, New Upp Changi Rd, Changi Rd, Geylang Rd, Kallang Rd, Crawford St, North Bridge Rd, South Bridge Rd, Neil Rd, New Bridge Rd, Hill St, Victoria St, Kallang Rd, Sims Ave, Sims Ave East, New Upp Changi Rd, Bedok North Ave 1

In 1987, Service 3 was extended to Jurong East via Jln Bt Merah, Queensway, C'wealth Ave, C'wealth Ave West, Boon Lay Way & Jurong East Central, with a slight amendment via Upp Cross St & New Bridge Rd.

Nissan Diesel U31SCN OAC buses were used.

I guess 7197 wasn't perm on 335, but I did see it on 335 before. I guess it's just a temp. bus.

last saw on 334 before it de-registered.

i remember the days when SBS 242U, SBS 247G,SBS 494J,SBS 3887P plying on 232... but i heard that some buses were de-registered and the rest deployed to another service... but the good thing it is replaced with the Euro IV buses... but still, i just love the old buses... memories!

I prefer Toa Payoh feeders using Scania N113CRBs.

i prefer Mercedez-Benz O405 on 232 than KUBS. I miss 242U ,247G ,274C ,3887P (Which has been deregistered) and 494J(Currently A BR SP bus)

About 2-3 yrs ago, there was used to be NAC Scanias on BRBP Services like 90, 94 & 155.. really miss the sights of the NAC buses before it eventually transferred to BNDEP. Sooner, the other gang of Scanias in the AMDEP & BRBP side transferred to BNDEP around 2007..

1) Used to have VO2x & LA
2) Took them quite a few times (Always took SBS 7293B & SBS 4998X)
3) Loves the pneumocyclic gearbox on the LAs

I remebered when SMRT had their U31SCNs. I liked the seating arrangement, and when it chionged through Yishun on 980 or 856, it is something you cannot forget.

Back when 167 was under KJDEP (I think), When 856 had no bendies, those were the good times. Saw a bus in flames near my house once. Private bus, looked like a Volvo B10M, fire was emanating from the centre.
