Obviously the SMRT bus are held up by cars in front while for the scania its clear.Seriouly speaking the Scania purposely speed up to prevent from the SMRT to overtake him but in the end the Merc overtook back,I see no point on doing this especially if you're driving public buses...Futhermore the new scania got no speed restriction while for most SMRT Merc they are restricted to 60-70kmh only now

PS:I'm not siding both side but a point of view from me as an ex-Bus driver

not really...some merc can speed up to 80+. an example is TIB511A. SBS9399S speeding at 80km/h along SLE/TPE while speedometer only shows 60km/h...

anyway, it was reported that it happen near the loyang exit (towards changi direction)... see the news (in chinese) and picture of damage bus. should be on 858 instead of 969. Sad that two lives are gone.. go green with smrt?

U should take 8N. U see the bus compete with lorries and car along Bukit Timah Rd.

Location: Opposite Tampines Bus Interchange, after Tampines Central 2/Tampines Central 1 T-junction
Nature of Breakdown: Unknown
Details:
1. SBS 0656J was on a roll to Tampines Street 45 for a last round before break on Townlink 293 when the breakdown happened. All the passengers have gotten down from the bus and transfered to another bus.
2. A breakdown sign was placed behind the bus.
3. At time of witness, the bus driver had gone back to the interchange to buy a drink.

Bus that broke down:TIB935K

Status:Broke down opp former Europa Country club just before the flyover.

Destos down, BC abandoned bus. Passengers nowhere to be seen. Engine cover opened.White pickup attending to the bus

Suspected radiator leak, coolant pooling from the engine bay.
