and i find it interesting: how come most of your route suggestions involves CCK via Jurong East? i do agree that J West and j East ave 1 might need a direct service to CCK afterall

Let SBS Transit take over 608 and renumber as 50. However, there will be changes in the route. From Mountbatten Rd, it will turn into Tg Katong Rd, Sims Ave and terminate at Eunos interchange. It will no longer ply to Bedok. The rest of the route will remain unchanged. This will create new link between Eunos and Tg Katong and to other places where there are no direct link. The route between Bedok and Shenton Way is very “similar” to 196 and they run almost parallel together, so the route will be amended to avoid this duplication. Passengers who are affected by the amended route will have to take alternative services or make a transfer somewhere. Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Make 60 merge with your route and 18 to become Tampines - Bukit Merah? And also 5X services start from Bishan (with the exception of 51)

105090 SG

already mentioned it was a loss making service since 2000. who will want to operate it?

and what for taking over the route, and let people take alternatives? isnt that as good as having no take over/ or 608?

droco SG

That may be just an excuse for SMRT for the withdrawal. Furthermore that route is not in its own territory and those buses can be repainted and used to add to its existing fleet, just like what it has been done. 608 has the healthiest demand with the best frequency among the other CSS services. It makes sense that it will be the last to be withdrawn (i.e Poorer demand services have to go first). Afterall, the withdrawal of 608 has caused more dispute over the withdrawal of other CSS services, thus showing that this service is more popular than the rest. Anyway that was just a suggestion to fix back the missing link from Bukit Merah especially to make the people happy.

Are you the Drew609 guy from SinBus?

droco SG

I am not.

actually come to think of it... it would be more effective if service 17 and 60 merge? then DDs can be used with no ease... in fact it may even boost ridership though the route might be a bit long and it would serve too many places

total FARE STAGE count for S17 from T1-T2 is 15
total FARE STAGE count for S60 from T1-T2 is 08, so its about 22-23 fare stages?

droco SG

This service cannot use DD because of the bridge below Nicoll Highway.

SBS9888Y SG

i think its 17 not 16? Laughing

droco SG

Oh. There is confusion here. Thought you had wanted to merge my service 50 with 60 and 17 as quoted by you. Very Happy

SBS9888Y SG

sorry my mistake... i was just talking about 17 and 60 alone... Laughing i thought u were talking about 16

SBS9888Y SG

anyway anyone finds that merging 17 and 60 a bad idea?

both have a share of DD routes and the full route is serviceable by DDs... furthermore it will link up more passengers on 60 to 17... the sad thing it doesnt benefit me Laughing anyway besides the journey being too long winded, any comments, do voice them... thanks...

droco SG

60 and 17 uses the same road Bedok North Ave 1 before proceeding to the interchange. This will create a problem with the merge. Use green and white plate is not a good idea for such a case. If any one of the services is to use another road before resuming its route, the route will be turning here and there near the interchange.

SBS9888Y SG

dun go int... from bedok nth rd conitnue on from 60 to 17 route.. but the whole idea is the bedok int part... yea y not go out to new upp changi rd then back to bedok nth ave 3 and then back onto 17 route
