Until SMRTB deliever its promises to reroute 858 into Sembawang, which was like 1 year ago, I seriously dont think any of these above will happen. 852 slightly maybe, but not so for 854 and 969.

I think 969 definately a no-no , even before reaching Yishun the buses already packed. Unless they have alternative service to go sembawang , but again , its impossible.

Oh I c. Sigh!! If the above three services are extended to Sembawang which are just addition of around three stages or so, Sembawang will be a more accessible place.

Extended 852 grants access to AMK area, Shunfu est, Bukit Timah and Bukit Batok.
Extended 854 grants access to Hougang, Eunos and Bedok.
Extended 969 grants access to Tampines area which is a good place for transferring buses to Changi Airport Cargo Complex or to Changi Airport or Loyang Industrial area.

And in case if any people want to go to semabwang park via public transport, it will be easier for them since only two transfers are required.

or maybe SMRTB can introduce a new service 850 which plies between Sembawang - Yishun (Loop) if they do not want to extend any of Yishun's trunk services

TIBS had rejected tonnes of requests (including mine) requests to extend to Sembawang. Reason cited being was the 1 hour promised travel time would be breached should the amendment occur.

I would rather them re-extending 180/951 to Woodlands Int. Solves the problem of people not being able to board 187.

There had been a recent increase of writings to newspaper requesting for more services in Sembawang. These are the few:

1. Extension of 857 to Sembawang
2. Extension of 168 or 969 to Sembawang

and 1 or 2 more which I can't remember.

As mentioned, I'm still waiting for the promised 858 amendment to materialise.

Before it is implemented, these are the ways to get to Eu Tong Sen Street and Marina Centre from the streets plied by 198 without making any transfers.

On the whole, from the perspective of a consumer, I gain a new service to the extended areas although I already have bus services that goes to them.
SBST has to deploy more buses on this new extended service 198 for the same freq. Besides, I notice that the extended sector of this service is similar to service 961 operating on suns and public holidays.

If such an amendment goes ahead, I forsee that SLBP will have to take responsibility for 198.

To avoid duplication with the extended 198, 961 can be diverted via C'wealth Ave, Alexandra and Lower Delta Rds (former 189 & 5 routes). The extended 198 can also return via Stamford Rd and Hill St insted of Nth/Sth Bridge Rds.

but got another service 859 ply between yishun and sembawang int too...you expect to give more competiton.but the way take mrt is better and CHEAPEST one.bus-$0.87 to $1.08.MRT-$0.65 lah.

i agree with ur 2nd & 3rd point but not really the 1st point , we've auto gear inter-city coaches like PZ1000S & PZ2000K which are Volvo Mk4s tht are running on auto gears , some scania coaches hv opticruise & can run auto also.

I realise that the extension sector of svc 80 duplicates with svc 145 from Crawford St to Henderson Rd. (Duplication of 12.5 stages). I think that's probably why SBST terminates Svc 80 at Harbourfront instead of Bt Merah int.

Your extended svc 198 looks ok (addition of around 4 stages) as it provides a direct link for residents residing at Telok Blangah Way to Boon Lay, Buona Vista, Singapore Science Ctr and Jurong West Town. However, I am not sure whether dds can be deployed on this new svc due to the narrow road Telok Blangah Way.
