But the commuters must be willing to move to the upper
deck despite the short journey. For 222, the upper deck is half
loaded or more most of the time so its ok for 222 to have DDs.
Last time, 291 used to have DDs but it was removed because
passengers on 291 refused to go up. I wonder if passengers on 225
are willing to move to the upper deck despite the short journey.
For me, I will move up as long as there are no seats on the lower
deck.
There's only a fraction of 225 passengers actually willing to
go up onto the upper deck of the bus. Not the elderly though,
there's actually more school children and the young on the
upper deck of the bus. When SBS 9578S cameoed on 225G on
Thursday and I took it at about 5+, there were higher ratios
of people on the lower deck compared to the upper deck. It took me
some time to squeeze in to get to the steps to the upper deck, also
considering that I have to carry a heavy bag + three files, hand
carried.
Whether the mindset of the people will change, it will
have to depend. But even with such introduction of DDs on a feeder
service and popularity of people going up to the upper deck is low,
perhaps some day there may be a blessing in disguise - more people
may be willing to move to the upper deck instead of crowding the
lower deck in the future.
