SMRT Buses New Fleets

King Long Buses are getting more and more popular here with coach operators even tourist bus comapany buy King Long Buses.

I first heard of King Long in 2005 when they sold minibus here. Then comes the 9 metre coach design and then late last year, 12 metre version. Next, shall we expect a King Long Bendy or DD?

I don't know but really, I saw one King Long Bus belonging to Heng Bus Company that uses Higer Rims and mud flap.

FYI, Heng Bus Company is official passenger courier for Mediacorp.

How I know this Heng Bus Company is official courier for Mediacorp?

Some of it's King Long Buses adorned Channel 8 and Channel U ads and have the channel logo pasted on the windows. I'll show you photos of it soon.

Why they wan to siam Volvos, i not quite sure about that yet. But Scania engine quite silent so it could reduce noise pollution but thats why they reduce engine noise but the down side is that it would increase more vibration

how about smrt get china buses king long? i saw number of new king long pte buses on the road.

China bus???? OMG!!! their safety standard so poor and when you sit inside, its more like sitting inside a coffin instead a bus. I would rather opt for a Renault instead.

Penang Rapid is using king long buses, they look like our sbstransit Scania K230 . it has much more powerful than k230u. as the new buses use to going up hilly road along the seaside. u105 is the bus service number, if you want to catch the k230u look as like next time you pay penang town a visit. maybe can compare to euro buses. cheap and good and comfort for king long bus. smrt should try it out. the last time transiand import japanese bues in the 80s and 90s which were better than sbs bodied buses.

The King Long bus looks like Habit somehow. Anyway the specs do look attractive.

IMO if they die die to save cost might as well buy WAB Hinos,Isuzus,Nissan Diesels or even Daewoos.Body like Gemilang,Deftech,SKS,Badanbas will suit their budget.

HINO rainbiow Ii rocks. with HYBRID or fuel cell hybrid FHV model

Nissan Disel WAB are not so nice looking. so umm no thanks

Daewoo may buy RHD version Integrated from korea. not too bad looking but have the hino Raibow 1 look.

can even try Hyundai bus from korea. bbus look like Mitshibishi Aerostar citybus WAB.

Isuzu ergas have volgren like front n very nice. pity isuzu Cubics are out of production. they had Bolton bodywork renault PR100 fronts.

King Loong bus in gemilang bodywork i think in penang. the king Loong specs r not bad and the citybus designs are good. yet to sit a jjing loong so dunno ride comfort.

dongfeng zhou bus rocks. not bad ride in KL under rapidl. think is integrated bodywork but look suspiciuosly like gemilang. interior wise exactly like gemilang.

Sekali is just write on the website only. The bus they export to you is all use fake/imitation parts...

Cummins become Cunnins. ZF become ZE.

Actually Chian has made imitation truck from japan before. but given the most oem spare parts are made by china companies for japanese company in china, it is not surprise to see one. china car Q Q is an example of an imitation car.

So it is not surprise the next new bus from smrt is from china or even inda, tata, at least you get Mercedes Made in Inda.

I think read somewhere king long or dong feng buses parts is made by Scania or Volvo. king long bus is powerful as it carry full load of people, can still go up the hilly road at penang without any problem compare to sbs u230.u230 is not that power. u can hear the auto-gear keep changing up and down when it go up slope.

Singapore buses does not need to be that good when going up slope or even hilly road, if want such a bus, must as well as Land Rover to make bus, that would be even better

wat do u mean need not be that good? yes, it doesent need to be able to do 60kmh straight on a steep gradient but at least its got to have enough power to climb the hill decently w/o losing power frequently

In short, a strong engine that has a good power/torque bandwidth.

B7RLE's D7E engine can do the job. B9TL's D9A300 can do it too. So lets see which next newer engine can do the same job.
