In fact I heard for KMB it was as high as 110km/hr along the Tuen Muen Highway back in the 80's along Rt 68 (Or was it 68X). I think 68X has since used the Tai Lam Tunnel

They did something later on to reduce the speed

Yeah, the video inside was quite slow, but I believe the bus was due to be scrapped when the video was made

That is not possible, as the differential they used was an ultra high accelleration differential, which would limit the speed of the bus to 75km/h. At a push, 80. But nowhere near 100, let alone 110. I suggest you check the authenticity of your "facts".

If that is the case, then there may be the chance that the differentials have been changed, but something tells me that this is not so. But don't worry... I haven't driven any O.305s with the same differential, or looked underneath one O.305 decker which has been saved... so don't mind me at all... Rolling Eyes

Managed to take one today!
This is svc 179. You'll only be to see the side view since I didn't want to display the camera so openly to everyone. The sound gets better around 1min30 when I put the camera on the seat. Very Happy

The first half, you'll be along JW St 63, seeing the new MRT lines. The bus was actually driven by a pro driver but too bad he didn't floor the accelerator at all and we also stopped at every bus stop (except Hall 1)! We only managed to catch up with the previous bus in NTU in the last minute. Very Happy

In part 2, pure Cummins power! BC downshifts to first gear, then floors the bus all the way up the hill, overtaking 2 buses at the bus stop (the other side of the camera though...)!

In part 4 & 5, you'll see the bus stuck in first gear (got lock-up). But I estimate at least 40km/h! Shocked

Oh that pro driver.. So actually how can I catch the bus he would be driving? any perm bus for him or usually wat bus he would drive?

For the first video (9088P), that driver is on 7238L this week.
For 2nd video (9290X), that driver is on 9064H this week. But 9064H is MIA so he drives the cameo of 9064H/
For 3rd video (9067A), that driver is standby driver. But very pro! He managed to get almost 70km/h on a VO3x in NTU last time... Shocked

You must have been hearing the radiator sound, not engine/gearbox! Laughing

For gearbox sounds, I think midway down the bus is best (but nearer to the back). For ZF B10Ms, sit all the way at the back for ZF howls!

I don't know about that too...

I never go and 'spot' the engine cover on the bus floor. MBO405 is very obvious, somemore if sit behind, you can feel a bit of heat. For SBS 230D (25 AMDEP), the cover got a hole (1 'screw' missing), but I see inside is like nothing like that.

Sure? I remember SMRT (or maybe TIBS at that time, cant rmbr) gort a svc (dunno which svc, its a Merc O.405 or O.405G, cant remember. ) the cover burst open with hot boiling fluid spraying all over, scalding a teen badly. Technicians concluded that its a cooling fan that failed and led to overheating of the fluid . So its quite dangerous to open an engine cover while the engine is running, esp if the bus is pron to overheating. Laughing

A bit of sound lag is present.

You will be able to hear the lock up but no gear changing.
But BC still floors accelerator almost continuously and we still managed to overtake both buses in front of us (2 bus stops) before reaching BNL! Laughing

I think the bus like going to overheat! Hold in first gear for so long! Shocked

Should be radiator water. SBS366X had such an incident before.

At the part 4, the BC chiong all the way or something, the sound I also never hear before, maybe its because downhill and cause the speed go down even faster than the 'usual'. It sound funny to me 'kkkkkkkkkkkkkeeeeeeeeennnnnnnnnnnnnneeeeeeeeeee'.
Somemore there are 2 DDs behind the bus, I wonder if its svc 179.

Lucky the engine and wheels does not have very limited energy, like humans or else what will happen... Shocked

Actually, the VO3x sounds abit like SBS9011K (LO3x). SBS9011K also sometimes got abit of a prob, the gearbox. The gearbox tends not to upshift into the third gear and when it does upshift, the bus has a violent jerk. Not sure if the problem still plagues the bus now.

Yeah, both 179 (9111E & 9056G)... Our bus overtook both of them! Then later 9056G overtook us opposite the new stadium (as you can see in the video), but we overtook 9056G back 2 stops before BNL... Laughing

If you watch Part 1 of 9067A, you'll see 4 179 buses passing us just as we enter NTU.
