Yup...service 851 was indeed one of the Tibs bus services in
Yishun where brand new buses were first introduced (except for the
fact that service 854 was the first PAC whereas service 855 was the
first FAC).
Service 851 was the first to receive brand new MB0405 OAC buses in
1994, followed by a few OAC Scania Striders. It also had the 1st
batch of brand new NAC Scania Elbos in 1996. In 1997 service 851
was also the first Yishun bus service to receive 5 new Hispano
bendies (TIB849B, TIB850X, TIB851T, TIB852R and TIB854K), followed
by service 812 and 856 which also had bendies in 1997-1998.
The only brand new buses that were not first introduced on service
851 were the Dennis Lance buses, in fact services 853 and 854 were
the first ones in Yishun to get the Malaysian UMW Lances (due to
the fact that service 851 was still under full WLDEP control when
these buses were bought in 1998-2000
)
Service 851 came under AMDEP in 2001, even TIB1017D and TIB1018B
were also pulled out from services 169 and 853 and given to service
851.
Service 854 started to have bendies only in Feb 2000 when Tibs
bought in the 2nd batch of Hispano bendies (started with TIB982Z,
TIB995L and TIB996J). Service 859 also had a bendy on trial
(TIB892A) in Dec 1999. Subsequently when the Habits came in during
2000, services 800, 806, 812, 851, 854, 856 and 859 started to have
perm Habits.
