Springleaf is north of SLE! Mr. Green

And practically, the estate is served by 3 existing SMRTB svcs and only 1 SBST service. Sad

sbst275 SG

Hmm

Then 825 should be given to SBS since it's basic svs

TEMPORARY DIVERSION OF BUS SERVICES ALONG KRETA AYER ROAD

Yaimster SG

I was thinking, why don't SMRT start its services at AMK or Yishun instead, looping at Nee Soon Road or Springleaf or Springside. Call that 169W Mr. Green .

Then they can sort-of bypass that stupid rule, and crave out another short-route for 169

Scania SG

825 went Springleaf before....probably SBS dint want to operate 825 after 825 got cut, so government no choice, let TIBS continue running, until SMRT came and changed the PA Lance fleet into Toyota Coasters.

Scania SG

Yah, but YCK Terminal is in SBST's territory.

sbst275 SG

Maybe they just left it alone since it's route admendments

New bus service for private estate residents in Yio Chu Kang
By Hasnita A Majid, Channel NewsAsia

SINGAPORE : A shuttle bus service has been launched on Tuesday to ferry residents living in private estates at Springside and Springleaf in Yio Chu Kang to the nearest MRT station and bus interchange.

The move came after feedback from residents about the lack of transport in the area.

MP for Ang Mo Kio GRC Lee Bee Wah, who approached SMRT to provide the service, joined residents in taking the first ride on Tuesday.

The shuttle, which runs every 20 minutes during peak periods and at 35-minutes intervals during non-peak periods, costs $1.30 per ride.

The shuttle service will not run on weekends and public holidays.

The service is on trial for three months, after which SMRT will decide if it's feasible to continue the service.

"I would think, initially, it'll be at a loss. We hope that residents who requested for this bus will come forward and use this bus service. SMRT has told me that as long as they breakeven, they will continue to provide this service... So hopefully at the end of 3 months, there'll be sufficient riders to breakeven," said MP Lee. - CNA

PTC have initially rejected the proposal of this bus service, cos accordingly to their standard/rules, the minimum fare should be S$2.00/trip. So when SMRT ask for S$1.30/trip, PTC rejected it.

But the MP, appeal to PTC/LTA and other departments and even talk to PM Lee and finally PTC agreed to this service.

There isn't any basic bus service, yet the ppl inside dun even dare to lower the fare Rolling Eyes

SBS Transit: Bus Captain Makes History By Being The First To Be Honoured By Community For Excellent Service

SBS Transit's Senior Bus Captain Teh Leong Sai has made history by becoming the first SBS Transit Bus Captain to be honoured by the people he serves.

The 42-year-old was invited to Anchorvale Community Club's Active Ageing Festival Luncheon Celebration cum Senior Outreach Day 2007 yesterday to receive an appreciation plaque from Dr Lam Pin Min, Member of Parliament for Ang Mo Kio GRC, for the excellent service he has provided to the residents of Sengkang. The honour was accorded to Senior BC Teh after Anchorvale Community Club received three commendation letters from residents praising Senior BC Teh.

Senior BC Teh operates Service 163, which plies between Sengkang and Toa Payoh. When he found out he was to receive this award, he said, "It is such a lovely thing they have done. I am just happy doing my job and I get a lot of joy knowing I have made my commuters happy. It is certainly a very pleasant surprise."

The Anchorvale award is not the first that Senior BC Teh has won. Having been with SBS Transit for seven years now, Senior BC Teh received many other accolades including the Excellent Service Award (STAR) 2005, NTUC Model Award 2004 and the National Courtesy Award - Transport Gold 2003.

Known for his ever-ready smile, cheerful demeanor and his crisply-ironed shirts, Senior BC Teh is also a Service Mentor for new Bus Captains. "I don't preach to my fellow colleagues what they should do. I just share with them what I do and how I think I can make my passengers happy. Hopefully they will do the same."

SBS Transit Chief Operating Officer, Mr Gan Juay Kiat, said: "We are very proud of Senior BC Teh and are very grateful to the residents of Anchorvale for acknowledging his good performance. It is heartwarming indeed."
