New Zealand WAB Buses

i was in nz from like 15-21 nov being in auckland for like 2-3 days and other days at other places, when walkin around queen street which i name it "downstairs shopping paradise" i was like surprised and shocked to see many many Public WAB buses flying through the area only 1/20 buses that i hav seen were non-WAB.. the bus models were MAN, Vovlo .. and the Volvo's bus looks great! the exterior espc.. and to quote from the side of the bus "This bus kneels down on request".. So i do believe ppl in auckland, espc wheelchair bound hav a very happy life..

i went NZ in 2000

was impressed bby their current fleet then got WAb MAn leow. i even sat their electric - powered WAB designline free city shuttle for fun
incidentally in NZ they got hino also . same bodywork as our Ht238 one

in terms of WAb penetration i would quote values like
non WAb - out of total 20 buses.
1/20 new zealand Queen st
2/20 hong kong nathan road
18/20 - KLCC
5/20 - japan hokkaido town main crossing in Asahigawa or kawa if u'd like

16/20 - Singapore orchard rd - adui
even malta italy is like 4 / 20 and beijing china is like 13 / 20

just for interest my value for London is
8/20

Asahikawa also considered 'ulu' already... In main city Sapporo also quite high penetration rate, although somewhat out of the topic, did see one high floor Nissan (or Mitsubishi?) 'drift' on icy surface before, even with studded tires. I bet the sight would be gone once the rate becomes zero ie. no more non-WABs...
Tokyo is damn high rate for WAB buses, and their CNG Mitsubishi among other brands are 'modern looking' and 'attractive'.

yes asahigawa or kawa is very ulu indeed. what i meant was the city centre area where the htoels n malls are. still relatively big city sort of town. but rather laid back after 7pm. u can pretty much do some good bus spotting at dusk n get nice night shots.

agree with u. i drool and foam when i see the miji CNG bus

btw the bodywork i think is called Mitsubishi aero star bodywork

i am overly enthused when i see a hino rainbow II bus. esp if its with a fuel cell pod. snap n snap even lamp post or tree block i snap.

very enthusing is also the ISUzu in Erga bodywork. mostly WAB versions.

their Isuzu Cubic (looks like renault bus one) some are WAb but older one are normal bus. that one i also enthuse.

in terms of high floor common are isuzu cubic and nissan stuffs. some hino rainbow 1 also high floor. but i seen b4 wab version of this bus. In temrs of bodywork calling the Hino rainbow 1 looks quite modern already . our last time Hino Ht238 use the older ver of hino rainbow bodywork.

i am a sucker for MAN buses. but in 2000 i din really know much about them. now i know NZ mostly use MAN. they also support their local product the Designline. i xpect they fume over the Chinese bodywork makers who copy their designs in China. hahaha
