No. 225 was created by Singapore Bus Services in the 1970s. I
daresay that there are tons of services which predate 225.
It is a really blur history on which service is the oldest
surviving service, though 170 is one of them, formed by Green Bus
Company as their Route 1.
Also, the government induced mergers of 1970 (10 Chinese bus
companies merge into 3 Chinese bus companies, STC ran alongside)
and 1973 (3 Chinese bus companies merged into a then highly fragile
company called Singapore Bus Services) and the collapse of
Singapore Traction Company in 1970/1971 had made the history of bus
services even more complicated. Thus, SBS, SBST, NTUC Comfort (as
in CSS), TIBS, SSB, SMRT bus services are much more clearly
documented by SBS/TIBS/CSS/Transitlink guides than STC and the
chinese companies.
