Converted aircon buses - less reliable?

cos i've experienced a few times when a converted scania aircon goes wrong, the whole bus has a burnt rubber smell and i'm forced to alight.

this happen when the disel exhaust creeps into the air-con circulation system. means the pipe got hole appear?? is it?

The smell shld smell like burning plastics . Dat time the VO3x i took kena . Some SMRT CAC Merc also .

Is it due to the aircon is lousy , or is it due to poor maintenance? I thot Hispacold and Denso good?

cannot say that CAC buses are less reliable, take for eg the o405, the CAC buses have much cooler air cond than it’s OAC counter parts

not really. diff CAC buses the AC is diff quality. some (like the SMRT & SBST Merz 0405) the AC quite good generally. personally i feel the SBST MK2/ CRBs is so-so. SMRT’s UDs is very warm on a hot afternoon but at night/ early morning can be very cold. as for the Scania ELBO i will say i prefer it before the convert to AC, got AC like no AC liddat.

Mk 3 have a good aircon but for UDs, It’s cold. Cold in the day and at night, 24/7. Sit in the front is like you are in a refrigerator or somthing.

Another example is the bendies... can get very warm during the day but at night or early morning it gets freezing cold.

The Hispano MKII bendies... nothing more to say. Always hyper cold. Laughing

very true… burnt smell… sometimes the aircon gives a hot air… especially some of the 858’s bus..

bendy's aircon are from Konvekta, and in Habit, it's much colder than MKII
