i noe this post has been 3 mths old. because of some sharp edges in sin ming ave. i last time see 162 haf to go thru a sharp left. juz opposite the sharp left is a right,but nt so sharp.

Cannot be. If 162 cannot use DDs, 410 cannot use DDs as well as they ply the same route. Then how come SBS9828X and SBS9829T appeared on 410 in July 2005?

yeah...small roads i think only one lane per traffic direction...this reply oso explains abt why 139 now nv got DD...but then y do they have LO3x at first??... Rolling Eyes

then again, 162 should have DDs already because can be quite full, especially during peak hrs and dismissal hours for students. but 410 already taken off of its DDs. even if so, sin ming ave and rd are 2 lanes.

I remembered that after the amendment to Rumah Tinggi, it is still using LA. If I am not wrong, those LA were removed when the service become fully aircon.

For 139, it can either be the case that Ah Hood Road area and/or Redhill area are no longer suitable for DD or SD still able to cope with the demand or both case.

Explain why DD can be use on 174 as it travel along Jurong Road which is a small road?

I don't know whether is it because of the 'roundabout' in Bukit Purmei Avenue so 123 and 131 cannot be use DDs Confused

i think as mentioned many times, DD may not be used isnt really due to tight roads. DD and SD are of the same length, so tight corners and such are not really applicable.

Yes, Sv63 still had the LAs when it served from Rumah Tinggi -> Macpherson estate.

it is because there is no sharp turn involved…furthermore Svc 28 has their roads widened if ur askin…and Sv.143 (West Coast outside Teban Gardens) is a straight road…sv.72 doesnt have as many bends as Sv.139…furthermore Sv.72 demand is much higher…Sv.174 demand can get rather high compared to Sv.139…Sv. 139 demand can be coped with SDs…took sv.139 on sat at 6plus and the bus was less than half-filled…wad makes things worse is that the bends at rumah tinggi estate are very narrow and not widened givin ADDs a trouble maneuvering thru… ah hood rd is basically due to too many cars parked along the road any o how… and i think its because of some trees also…the last bend after the pentecostal chruch before u reach balestier road junction is too narrow and many 139 BCs have trouble with alr SDs at the junction…so thats why i think why 139 doesnt have DDs.

I say you crawl out from under the coconut shell, open your eyes wide and see the DDs in other countries with more demanding road conditions than Singapore. Hong Kong is a good example. If the DDs there can make it, I don't see why DDs here can't. Its just a matter of whether they WANT to do it or not.

well s'pore has lots of conditions..hk anywhere close to anywhere can have DDs..but this causes alot of accidents etc.

I don't think that being a DD would cause accidents. Even if the bus was SD, the accident might still occur.
