May I shed some light on the matter?
like someone here said, the elderly mentality has degraded over the
years, so some of the quirky habits are forgivable.
like in case 2, maybe they're afraid that due to a weaker body,
they will lose out to the younger stronger generation. its not just
the elderly who squeeze against you when the bus comes. so because
they're weaker, they hv to be more fierce to meet the
"competition". it would be nice if we're gracious to them and give
way to them. so far the elderly ppl i've met are very nice, and
will smile and thank me when i give way to them, or give up my
seats.
case 4, its common for the older folks to slowly lose their hearing
over the years. so speaking loudly is common, it can be irritating
because i've a granny who's like this. so again, its a test of our
own patience and graciousness.
