Actually, I don't find it quite unusual that forum
administrators go to those lengths to "protect" their forums.
Another forum I go to (a digital design and software skinning
forum) also goes to lengths when it comes to accepting new members.
For one thing, their registrations aren't always open, and when
they do, you need a paid e-mail account, and you are screened
before they put you in as a restricted member. Only when you show
you are serious to being part of the forums then you are granted
full posting and other forum rights.
However, I do agree that BusInfoHub is a bit too extreme. In the
forum I mentioned, members are booted out only when they break
enough rules, create enough trouble or when the general consensus
is that the member is
trouble. Otherwise, the moderators there are quite tolerant of a
few extremely minor mistakes here and there. Also, once you show
yourself as a serious member for a long enough period of time, the
moderators don't pretty care about what you do there unless, again,
it's rule-breaking.
