Volvo B9TL

BTW do you see the possibility of 64 using BT9Ls in the near future especially it serves the aging Queenstown estate?

hseochin SG

I don't think so.
I believe due to the more limited availability of lower sulphur diesel fuel & their higher price etc., Euro-2 vehicles of course more popular than Euro-3.
But advancing to Euro-4 is more 'difficult' as more new fuel & engine technologies are involved, which also means higher cost levels for the sake of lower emissions. In Euro-4 they have stuff like SCR & Ad-Blue fuel additives, people would naturally tend to take 'some time' to get used to these innovations & be comfortably to afford the higher prices before Euro-4 becomes widely popular.

busmanic SG

it is a ComfortDelgro Engineering bodywork

MS SG

B9TL is done by bodyworks (Comfortdelgro) in HG depot. I have seen them doing. They're rushing the remainder buses now. But we have to be patient as they have limited manpower. The guy doing bus grooming for me also explained his lack of labour. So we ought to give them credit for the sucessful prototype thats on the road.

According to Volvo S.E.A who came to my workshop, he told me that the bus B9TL is Euro4.

There is discussion going on about giving all the 5 depots each a share of the 150 buses. If thats decided, it will be good news for the commuters.

CNG is Euro 3 as confirmed by Volvo S.E.A during a short CNG explainatory course conducted in SLWS weeks ago shortly before I started to circulate the workshop display tech guide for the CNG bus in Soon Lee. But as the bus has so clean exhaust which can even pass Euro4.

alex_cai92 SG

lol...u din watch the news eh...
from the video on the news, there is a ramp at the BACK DOOR, manual operate, foldable...

alex_cai92 SG

IT IS SBS9900U...and wad makes u tink tat they would gif such ODD NUMBER LIKE 4623...test plate onli...(although the bus is not registered yet)

stooper SG

How are you so sure it’s 9900U? Would it be 9900 to 9999, then the other 50 buses another rego?

alex_cai92 SG

RELIABLE SOURCES!

and tat is y im puzzled WHERE THE OTHER 50 would be...
my guess would be
100 ZF = 9900-9999
50 unknown(maybe voith) = 9701- 9750 >>> by archangel

jus like strider

Apex-LW'21 SG

My guess is from 9691 onwards, since it was unused.

alex_cai92 SG

hmmm...i tink it would be better to be using a new hundread slot...

sBs_boy SG

Let me ask you this question.. How Reliable are yoru sources.. ?? Unless you are telling me that you are working inside SBST or LTA...

alex_cai92 SG

if u c darryl photos, the bottom of the photo wrote SBS9900U, i dun expect him to "make out" some regos...he is FOSBST, and was at BRAM taking photos of 9900. I dun expect him to fake out a rego. Plus, i tink the interior oreadi haf the reog<<<purely inference. or maybe SBST announce during the ceremony yesterday...

stooper SG

Wow! You trust him a lot!

ZYX2005 SG

you singaporean?

you underestimeate the bus body building industry here. we have ben building bsues for like eyars.

this "SBS9900U" is the ultimate product. loads of innovations,

and fyi the seats are german made. no guesses on the brand. doors are hmm what brand are they...

i cna go on if u wish

ZYX

ZYX2005 SG

we think its 9900 becuase the ticket printout said 9900. however a more sensible guess of 9988 for the "first unit" to show off in APR is a good guess.

ZYX

alex_cai92 SG

WHY NOT! He haf to bear serious consequences if he anyhow put the rego...since he is FOSBST and WAS AT THE CEREMONY, Why not?

The_Bus_Guide SG

1. There were no registration plates whatsoever on the B9TL bus. The bus is not registered yet. The blue number plate was just a temporary permit which allows the bus to be driven on the road.

2. 9900 was the number printed on the ticket which was supposed to be the bus registration number IF the ticket was printed on a normal working bus. We have jumped to the conclusion that this was the (intended) rego for the bus which might or might not be true.

Please understand these 2 points, especially the second one.

hseochin SG

Doesn't make sense to me B9TL is Euro-4 ?! I don't think that Volvo person is too accurate here.
As then i'll be fussy on the fuel type & no mention of SCR or other new alternative emission technologies deployed or use of any fuel additive etc. ?
Furthermore the claim on the windscreen sticker is Euro-3.
So there's enough reason to believe it's Euro-3.

As for CNG being Euro-3, perhaps they refering to CNG-diesel hybrid model ??
As if it's 'pure' CNG, it's expected to be Euro-4 ?!?

MS SG

I see...
I'm afraid that what you said is not the truth.

It is always better to refer back to the workshops for technical specifications than to assume.

Thanx.

busmanic SG

MS why is the B9TL still using destos not EDS?

SBS9828X SG

i read sumwhere that EDS on DDs are much more prone to spoils...

not to sure abt this though
