No blanket extension on Euro IV standards
I REFER to the article, 'Emission reprieve cushions drop in COE
rates' (ST, Oct 5).
Euro IV emission standards for diesel vehicles came into force on
Oct 1.
The National Environment Agency wishes to clarify that there is no
blanket extension to the implementation deadline for Euro IV
emission standards for diesel vehicles.
Only motor traders who could produce proof of buyers for their
vehicles, but were unable to secure COEs for these vehicles by Oct
1, were allowed to do so during the Oct 4 bidding. They are
required to register their vehicles by Oct 15.

anyway, since they are considered registered and laid up, will they
honour it as such, tat is, the 17 years start from the date of
registration? if not, then such is a special arrangement within the
government.
